She should have told him, especially after the attempted kidnapping. The fact that it took her so long annoyed me. I cannot stand the keeping secrets trope
This annoyed me about Ellie. She was getting pressure from her job to locate the file. She was under pressure from the one threatening her family and she should have concluded that one was possibly from Lee and Kate's killer. We know it wasn't but it would have been a logical conclusion for her. Her decision to not involve Grant irritated me. I felt she was way out of her league and needed help. Especially after being carjacked by gun point. Although Ellie didn't fall directly into the TSTL category it was close.
She certainly should have told Grant that someone had threatened her family. I don't understand waiting so long.
Her logic for not telling Grant didn’t make sense. It bugged me that she even thought for two seconds she couldn’t trust him with this information. She needed a partner and they didn’t come any better than him.
I’m with you, Christina...very close to TSTL. Lauren, I KNEW you’d have issues with this secrecy.

Jonetta wrote: "I’m with you, Christina...very close to TSTL. Lauren, I KNEW you’d have issues with this secrecy"I really don't know why authors keep using this trope. It serves no purpose at all. In this case, it even undermines the romance as Ellie demonstrates that she doesn't fully trust Grant and she has no reason not to.
Straight beyond TSTL and right to Woman, do you have a death wish? With everyone looking for that file I wondered how she expected to be the one to find it when no one else could. She should have told Grant immediately and they should have told the police.
Ellie's failure to share made me angry enough to put the book down for a day. I hate when authors use a mistake of years gone by to justify secrecy. It is even worse in Ellie's case as she was a teenager and Julie's father was a teenage. It didn't make sense at all. It was TSTL moment for me.
Anita wrote: "With everyone looking for that file I wondered how she expected to be the one to find it when no one else could.."Agreed. No idea how she thought she would be able to search the house with so many people coming and going.
Okay, even though I thought this was a bad move on Ellie's part, I can almost understand why she kept it a secret for so long. She was always keeping things to herself, I think mostly due to getting pregnant at such a young age and made to feel it was a disgrace. The only person who really knew her was Nan. She should have told Grant of course, especially after the attempted kidnapping but felt he would be gone soon and then she would need to deal with everything alone, once again.
