Eric Goodman (ericdgoodman) | 8 comments Hi, Joyce,

Looks like you have an entire library to browse in the comments. Here is another for your consideration.

I'd be happy to provide you with a copy of my latest novel, THE COLOR OF JADEITE. Below is a description of the novel, which was published by Apprentice House Press in October. Please let me know if you would like to consider it.

Thank you!

Eric

The Color of Jadeite is a literary thriller full of intrigue, romance, treacherous villains, alluring clues, narrow escapes, and surprises around every corner. The novel has been described by early readers as “a tight, taut, terrific thriller” (Steve Berry, author of 19 New York Times bestselling thrillers) and “as tense, romantic, and obsessed as the great noir thrillers” (Jacquelyn Mitchard, Deep End of the Ocean).

Clive Allen, a suave private eye, ventures throughout China in search of an ancient jadeite tablet from the Ming dynasty. Along the way, he delves into the mysteries of China’s art, history, and culture.

Every bit as captivating as the treasure Clive seeks is the mysterious Wei Wei, an expert on Chinese artifacts who helps the droll detective navigate the most perilous pockets of Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and beyond.

With sidekicks Salvador and Mackenzie, Clive sets out to find the priceless artifact, outwitting their rivals at almost every turn. But between the fistfights and rickshaw chases, gunfights and betrayals, Clive’s deep connection with the treasure he seeks and his romance with Wei Wei force him to confront truths about his past and himself.

Find out why it’s been called “The Maltese Falcon on high octane” (Jerry Holt) and “a clever, witty, captivating read” (Toby Devens) by reading the adventure for yourself. It’s available on Amazon and from other booksellers as a hardcover, trade paperback, and ebook.

S.B. Redstone (sbredstone) | 11 comments Hi Joyce,

Here’s my pitch to entice you to read my post-apocalypse thriller.

You’re at work, in school, at home, out shopping, trapped in an elevator, or sky-high on an amusement park ride when the power and lights suddenly go out. For a moment, you’re just annoyed, expecting only a momentary problem. Doesn’t happen! Along with the power outage, all means of communication have been severed. The Internet is down, and a terrorist’s face on the screen gloats. Fear now creeps into your optimism. Hours later, with a world overly dependent on cyberspace, global economies begin to crumble from this irrevocable cyberattack. Totally freaked out, what will you do to survive the anarchy?

Annie Oakley Frye is a Cyber Warfare Specialist accepted cyberspace had become a cesspool of evil based on the multitude of daily cyberattacks. Annie does not live in a dystopian, fantasy world like Katniss Everdeen, Beatrice Prior, and Lara Croft—she lives among us. Once she discovers this invisible menace is lurking in a million networks, and it can’t be stopped from obliterating world economies, she sheds her mild-mannered personality and becomes the lioness of her youth to survive the anarchy. Out of kindness, she warns her friends about this approaching cyber nightmare, but they scoff at her insider information and doomsday scenario, believing the government won't let it happen. Once the cyber nightmare launches a surprise arrives at her door!

This is my book at Amazon. https://amzn.to/3answX5 I will send a gifted book format of your choice. inkblot19@gmail.com

Look forward to hearing from you,

Leslie Garland | 197 comments Hi,

Right now I am seeking reviews - particularly Amazon reviews, though all are welcome! - for my book The Red Grouse Tales The Red Grouse Tales (The Little Dog and Other Stories) by Leslie Garland and I’m wondering if you might be interested in reading and reviewing it.

To the blurb:-

Told in The Red Grouse Inn, the universal appeal of these four charming, very different, adult, speculative, spiritual and philosophical tales will intrigue and entertain. With beautiful and atmospheric imagery, surreal and paranormal concepts of angels, ghosts and devils, they will have you guessing, turning the pages and looking forward to the next one.

The Little Dog, a story of good and evil and retribution. Very much a coming of age story and told in the manner of all the stories in our lives, namely that we have no idea that we are ‘living in a story’ until suddenly all seems to click together. A young forester partnered with an objectionable workmate, finds a little dog way out in a remote part of the forest. What is such a cute little dog doing there? Bill, the teller of this tale, becomes a bit attached to it and looks forward to seeing it every day sitting beside the haul road. Then one day the little dog is no longer there and Bill starts to learn some dreadful truths.

The Crow, a sad, poignant story of misunderstanding, bitterness and blame. Another coming of age story but on a very different theme; that of human vanity. A young boy is taken by his mother to visit a dying and embittered old Irish priest, Mad Father Patrick, who recounts the school days and subsequent rise of a local councillor and of his involvement in the construction of a dam which flooded a valley. As the tale progresses it becomes increasingly bizarre, indeed, mad, and we finally learn why the old priest so bitter.

The Golden Tup, a dreadful tale of a young couple’s paradise being cruelly taken from them by latent evil. Can evil be in a place? A slow burning horror story; this one opens with the appalling news that a nice young couple, who had bought an old derelict farm and made it into their ‘dream home,’ had killed their own baby. How could they have done such a dreadful thing? The story, told predominantly in flash-back and with references to Milton’s Paradise Lost, charts their lives and how this horrific act came to pass.

The White Hart, a happy ghost story, if there can be such a thing! A tale of redemption told by a likeable male chauvinist, Pete, who recounts his meeting with an albino doe while out in the forest on a jog, his subsequent meeting with an enigmatic and beautiful girl at a remote chapel who tells him the sad story of the daughter of the family which built it, and a third incident …..

I usually say my stories are for adult readers because they are not ‘all action’ from page 1, and may contain some minor mention of sex and a tiny bit of bad language. However, I suspect they are very possibly suitable for a NA and even a YA readership.
Page count is 370 pages.
The book is written in UK English.

If these tales interest you and you are prepared to review them and post your review in timely manner (sorry, but I don’t want this just being added to a one mile long TBR list!) on, particularly Amazon, though all others are welcome, I will be happy to supply you with a free PDF, mobi or epub file.

Hoping that my book appeals, that you will be interested in reading and reviewing it and so looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Leslie Garland

Hazel Bergen | 9 comments Hi Joyce,
If you are interested, I would love for you to review my book When the Robins Left.
It is a speculative political thriller with a launch date of February 1st (2022).
Here is the blurb, to see if it sounds like something you would be interested in.

Would you dare to risk it all?
With the rise of a fascist regime in Europa, Roosmarijn and her girlfriend Zayneb are desperate to flee persecution. Their escape from Amsterdam fails as they get separated and Roosmarijn is determined to reunite eight-year-old Tim with his mother.
When Roosmarijn is captured by the authorities her old friend Erik comes to the rescue. As a little white lie spirals into a web of deception, Erik may not turn out to be the hero he appeared. As Roosmarijn uncovers the plans of the new regime, she comes up against a battle of time and deception, confronted with the difficult choice of staying truthful to herself and knowing she may never see Zayneb again.
When the Robins Left is a suspense-filled speculative fiction thriller that deals with themes of responsibility, identity, and guilt.

Thanks

Hazel

Hi Joyce,

I have a YA novel called "Brooms," which is book 2 in the Uncanny Icons series. Each book is a stand-alone story based around a different icon of Halloween. Here's a brief synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Maggie Addison is a goon. At least that’s what she’s branded after she starts an epic hockey brawl following her team’s disappointing loss in the playoffs. Kicked out of the league for a year, her parents decide that Maggie’s best option is to lie low for a while. and what better place to do that than in a remote northern community on the shore of one of the largest lakes in Saskatchewan?

But this is not just any lake. It’s Reindeer Lake, supposedly home to the fabled Deep Bay Monster. Maggie has no time for such nonsense, preferring to keep herself rooted in the real world. However, the more time she spends up north, the stranger her “real” world becomes, to the point that she begins to wonder if it’s time to broaden her perspective, even if that means playing a sport that is the bane of her existence . . . curling.

I can send a PDF or a Kindle version. Let me know if you're interested!

Tiki Black | 23 comments Hi Joyce,
Thankfully you are open to other types of books beyond your preferred types because I too have a poetry collection (I saw at least another one on this discussion). Thank you for this opportunity anyway.

I am Tiki Black, a new author and I have just self-published a poetry collection, "The Sound Of The Broken Wand". The book is 84 pages / 7.3K words / 24 works and available in paperback and kindle formats.

The book encourages us to break the wands of survival to allow for creative growth and emancipation. There are 6 sections covering each a theme implicit in storytelling, particularly fairy tales from our childhood and beyond: the blood (representing life and death), the cage (representing prison and refuge), the mirror (reflection and deflection), the crown (power and duty/debt), the shoe (journeys and unbeaten paths) and the wand (bewitchment and magic). Each section contains 4 works.

Please DM me if you are interested so I can share my email privately but otherwise If you're interested it is available for honest reviews as an ARC https://booksirens.com/book/LIDTE1O/D... as well as on Kindle Unlimited.

B.C. Taylor (bctaylor) | 14 comments Hi Joyce,

I have a new YA fantasy book releasing on 9/27/22 (totally good if the review is a week late if you need more time to read). The Lost Witch is the first book in the Hayden Black and the Salem Witch Trials series.

The Lost Witch (Hayden Black and the Salem Witch Trials, #1) by B.C. Taylor

The Lost Witch (Hayden Black and the Salem Witch Trials, #1) by B.C. Taylor

You said one of your favorite genres is fantasy, so I pasted the book blurb below. If you're interested, I'd love to send you the BookFunnel link with the ARC copy!

Let me know either by responding to my comment or you can email me at authorBCtaylor@gmail.com. Thanks!

BLURB:
Five deadly Trials. An ancient, sinister evil.

One lost witch with the power to save the world.

Welcome to Asylum.

Twelve-year-old Hayden Black has never been normal, that much she knew, but when her father is abducted by demons, she learns just how remarkable she truly is. Not only is she a witch, but Heaven’s angels have chosen her as the next Salem Witch, destined to protect the world from evil… if she can survive the deadly Salem Witch Trials first.

Now Hayden must traverse the magical world of Asylum and learn to use her powers. If she doesn’t master all five elements — air, fire, water, earth, and Spirit — before her seventeenth birthday, she forfeits her life.

Hayden might have started her journey orphaned and alone, but it doesn’t take her long to forge new friendships and attract new enemies. Hayden thought her only nemesis was the residential bully, but her greatest enemy, a terrible evil lurking in the shadows, has yet to reveal itself.

Will Hayden master her air magic in time to save her friends and find her father? Or will she perish alongside them?

Susan Dalessandro | 44 comments Hi Paige,
If you enjoy emotional, angsty Young Adult books then
I could use more reviews on my YA coming of age thriller, COMPLEX SOLUTIONS. Thank you!

Math is easy for Lexi, but complex emotions are hard, and AP Calculus won't help her overcome guilt, fear or self-destructive behavior.
