Raymond Johnson | 4 comments Another person is listing my books on their author profile, and I cannot create an author page, as I cannot click MY name and then say the book is mine
OK, I had to wait for someone to tell me HOW to become a Goodreads Author, but that didn't helps, since another author has all of MY books credited to HIM. I don't know how to remove him from my books so that I can claim them as my own. For example, Essence by Dakota Krout, Surviving Ludus by Blaise Corvin, VGO: Sidequests by James Hunter, and a dozen others have been written by me, and if they are listed on Goodreads then the OTHER Raymond Johnson is credited for them. Please help.

Thank you

Ray Johnson

Sandra | 31483 comments The books were autoimported by bots and went to the default profile.

I've moved Art of the Deal to a new clean profile which you can claim by scrolling down the author profile to the link - Is this you? Let us know. - and following the prompts.

GR uses spaces between names to distinguish between authors with the same name. In your case you have 11 spaces between Raymond & Johnson, don't remove them or you'll have books end up on different peoples' profiles :)

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

I'll now work on moving your books to the new profile. I'm using your amazon profile so if you have any books not listed there please post with the details.

Sandra | 31483 comments All the books listed on amazon have been added to the above profile, but as most of them are anthologies they won't show up for a while due to caching.

If you go to the editions and click on your name you'll see they now re-direct to your profile.

Raymond Johnson | 4 comments Hello,

This has happened again with my novel NGS The Nightmare Game System. Can we get it moved to the proper author profile and do something to prevent this in the future? I have more books coming out soon and want to avoid this from happening everytime I do a release.

Thank you

1. There are multiple authors with your name.

2. Goodreads differentiates between authors of the same name with spaces before the last name.

3. Your profile has 12 spaces: Raymond^^^^^^^^^^^^Johnson

4. When publications are automatically imported from Amazon or other sources, the "handshake' between Goodreads and the other source do not recognize multiple spaces, so the work goes to the default 1 space profile. It is systemic and in no way implies that another author is claiming your work or that an over sight has occurred. Often when users add works, they may not be familiar with the number of spaces that this profile uses, so may only use the default spacing, and this also in no way implies that the other author has claimed your work.

5. It takes no time at all for a librarian to correct these, if you mention that your profile has 12 spaces.

6. You can add the titles before the automatic import from the publisher by adding from your page:

Books by Raymond Johnson , there is a place that says

* Note: these are all the books on Goodreads for this author. To add more books, click here.

that will make sure your added books go straight to your profile.

7. When asking for assistance, please also provide the link to the work that needs correcting.

8. If you add a Kindle edition, please make sure the ASIN is in the correct field, not the ISBN field, or the automatic import will not recognize that it exists and it will recreate it and it will go to the default author.
