wosedwew | 231 comments Hello Danielle

I'm here to start off your new topic with two requests

Maria Grace's ice cream book has two listings: Kindle and Paperback
Can you combine them for us, please?

wosedwew | 231 comments Request #2:

Tempt Me: A Pride & Prejudice Variationhttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... doesn't show a cover. Also, clicking the Amazon link does not bring you to this book (which is not listed under the right Julie Cooper at Amazon)

Here is the Amazon listing:
https://www.amazon.com/Tempt-Me-Pride...

If you remember, Julie Cooper's last book was listed under the wrong GR Julie Cooper. This one is as well. Can you move it to this author:
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

This is kind of a Rube Goldberg sort of request. I hope you can follow my ramblings.

As always, thanks for all your help

Only if I actually get ice cream! :-)

I combined them and linked the series together so you can easily find the others.

Lol...I remember, when two authors have the same name with no initial we have to add extra spaces in between the first and last name so the system can differentiate between them. I wish when it had a name that matched more than one it would ask you to choose which to assign it to but it just chooses the first author listed. Anyway, it is all fixed!

I now expect 2 scoops of ice cream. :-)

wosedwew | 231 comments Thank you! Thank You!

My father-in-law in Mississippi once mailed (USPS) us a box of tomatoes. (they never believed tomatoes also grow in Nebraska)

So, tomatoes can be mailed successfully, but I am not sure about mailing ice cream to the Dominican Republic.

The next time you are in Nebraska, I will take you to Culvers!

wosedwew | 231 comments Hi Danielle --
The Mysterious Death of Mr. Darcy: A Pride and Prejudice Vagary is shown under author Reginna Jeffers

Can you move it to Regina Jeffers?

It is a re-issue of an older book -- same story, new publisher

wosedwew | 231 comments Yikes!!! Just don't give me any "principle-principal" puzzlers.
I once had an editor tell me off for questioning his "principles" or it might have been his "principals"

Oh, and thanks for Regina/Reginna

message 27: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 447 comments The Becca Bloom [our very own Jennifer Joy] books in her 'Murder on the Equator' needs a face-lift [as do I]. LOL!

Here is her Amazon page listing the 6-books in the series.

Thanks, Danielle, for all you do for us. Blessings...

Lol...yeah I hate teaching those to my students. I never really understood how insane the English language was until I had to try to explain it to a child. It is like a criminal, it has just stolen all kinds of words and rules and thrown them together and then said the rules are basically a crapshoot as to if they really apply or not....lol

I thought English was the only language coming from so many languages that it had no "rules" but I just finished The Mysterious Death of Mr. Darcy and noticed the phrase poisson d'avril.
I looked up the translation: poisson is Fish
but poisson d'avril is April Fools Day

Who knew?

I am reading it now, I have found a couple of interesting words and phrases from the gypsy (Roma) language. With all the world traveling I think we are going to see more and more overlap with languages, there is so much more mixing and blending of cultures so language will do the same.

message 32: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 231 comments I had heard that the French guard their language and refuse to add words from English or other languages even when many French people use those words.

message 33: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 231 comments I listened (via Alexa) to a lot of The Mysterious Death of Mr. Darcy instead of reading.

When the Roma character Besnik Gry was first introduced, I heard Alexa's pronunciation as "the sneak" -- which at first made some sense but when Darcy spoke the name, I opened the Kindle. I never thought Darcy would refer to a deceased stranger as "the sneak"

Lol...yeah sometimes foreign names can be tough. I am forever butchering the names of Chinese people when teaching my students. They laugh, after they figure out who I am trying to talk about. I have gotten used to most Spanish names but some still give me difficulty because they are a mixture of two, like some of the way we Americans mix names. My friend just had a baby girl and named her Emiko....cute name but not one that a non-native speaker would find easy.

FYI, I found this Romani dictionary online....I had to know what the words meant....lol

wosedwew | 231 comments Have you ever noticed how people who say "I don't mean to change the subject but ..." always change the subject?

Well, not to change the subject but ...

I have two recently published "books" (actually parts 2 & 3 of a 12-part series).

Aubrey Anderson has added to her serial:

https://www.amazon.com/Lady-Manor-Pre...
and
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08...

Thanks for adding these!

Ha ha! I love it, only hear would people truly appreciate the humor of the English language.

I got the books fixed...for now. It is going to be an issue with each new one that comes out because they all have the same name so it keeps combining them with each other as one book rather than a series. Please let me know when they come out and I can fix it, it will have to be done with each new one that comes out.

message 38: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 231 comments What a pain!

Thanks for fixing this for the first three

wosedwew | 231 comments A small change and a question:

The small change:
DesertRat and desertrat68 are the same author. Please move A Mother's Favorite Wish to desertrat68.

Now, the question:
This author has additional stories at her website. The website can be reached by anyone without becoming a member or setting up a password.

I know GoodReads rules prohibit adding unpublished stories from sites which require membership. Do the rules also prohibit adding stories from a website such as this author has? It is so much easier to recommend a story if it has a GR listing.

Do I need to contact Linnea Eileen Smith for permission?

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 447 comments Since we are cleaning up Desertrat68 ... there is a misspelling of her name on one of her stories.

The unexpected entail

I went to the 'Beyond Austen' website to verify it was Desertrat68's work.

message 41: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 231 comments Good catch!

message 42: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 447 comments I've read several of her stories and just happened to see that. You were good enough to start the process. You rock, Wose. LOL! Guess what? I signed up for that 2 months free KU. I finally bit the bullet. Now, if I can just keep up with my reading time.

message 43: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 231 comments You're gonna need a bigger boat ... uh ... more reading hours!

message 44: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 447 comments LOL!! I feel more restrictions coming so I figure I'll have those reading hours. I hate to say it... but that's the truth.

message 45: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 231 comments Uh ... more with The unexpected entail

the blurb says "A very we developed story." should be well-developed story.

Thanks, Danielle
