I am going to give this one a try too. I got it from the library last week. I think I read it in High School or College but don't remember for sure.
I really enjoyed this book even if it was a required reading for college. Actually, I think I liked it more because of our class discussions. My professor was really interesting and his love for the books he chose really rubbed off on me.
I read it in December and thought at the end that I maybe would have enjoyed it better with class discussions! Sometimes books deserve to be explored more in-depth than what you do just reading it alone at home...
I also read this a couple of months ago, and I saw the movie with my boyfriend not long after, where we found out that this book really suits for bookclubs or class discussions. There are so many topics, symbols and characters to analyze and discuss. And as I mentioned in another thread about the book, you might find it helpful to read a little about F. Scott Fitzgerald also.
This is definitely a discussion book!I remember reading it in AP English and my classmates and teachers would have such good points and it really added to the story.
Honestly, Gatsby is one of those books I could go on about forever because it is great and there is so much too it.
I've read some of Fitzgerald's other works, but Gatsby is my favourite. Maybe because it was my first of his, it just holds a special place in my heart.

I have read it before. I read it my junior year of high school and I liked it, but you know when you're reading things for school you don't get to appreciate them fully (or at least i can't). So I'm re-reading it and am still greatly enjoying it!
It really is a GREAT romance novel for people who aren't big romance fans.
