Samsalaqueen So, I read this book about 15 years ago in Germany and in German, The cover was red with a black and white frame. The word "es!" was written in italic in the top left corner. Otherwise there was nothing else on the front page.

The story itself goes something like this:
Paranormal scientist wants to create a ghost and invites random people to participate in his experiment. They first determined that the person they are about to create doesn't exist by going through history books etc.
Over time they are adding more and more details to their imaginative person and as they go, they realise that now this person does exist in history books. They must have been successful in their experiment to create someone out of nothing.
All are scared and uneasy and decide to end the experiment, which the ghost didn't like and starts to kill them one by one.
Someone finds a another person who knows a spell that can stop the ghost but the catch is, it can only be said once and all of the survivors have to be in one place.
Someone has the spell and tries to get to the other survivor...who turns out to just been murdered BUT called the spell-holder on the phone and whispered the spell and therefore made the spell powerless.

This is what I remember. Details are hazy and I could be wrong on the ending as well.

I know that countries have different titles and covers but I added this piece of information anyway.
So far, I had no luck in finding this book especially since it has the same title as Stephen King's classic IT.
I hope you have more luck, every new detail is welcome :)
Thank you all!

Ardee | 15 comments Hi! This might be a shot in the dark, but could the title have been Ex. instead?

Both the cover and plot closely resemble your description. :)

Samsalaqueen A 100%!
This also explains why I couldn't find it looking for "es" xD
Thank you so much for your help! That was way quicker than expected!

Ardee | 15 comments Oh! Awesome! I'm so glad I could help. :)

And honestly- "es" made more sense than "ex", anyway.

Samsalaqueen I have to re-read it and yes, I just ordered it and it will be here next week but yes, based on my foggy memory "es" does make more sense :D
