Why did Laura Lane McNeal title the book Dollbaby? To me Doll seemed to be only a supporting character... is there more to her that I did't see? And also does anyone think Fannie committed suicide..?

Yes, it was pretty apparent to me that Frannie took her own life and decided to go out on her own terms once Ibby's mom was out of the picture for good and Ibby was grown up.

The editor has the final say on a title. It has to be something that hasn't been used before, as well as being dramatic. This title fit the bill.
