Go Nell!!!

Go Nell!!!

I read the book 2, The Enlightenment of Daniel by Eli Easton. 3 stars...maybe. I like this author. The books are well written, the stories engaging, usually some humor, great characters.
However, in this story, I did not like the MCs. Daniel, a very successful CEO, decides he wants Nick, his MARRIED for 14 years best friend and business partner and sets about getting him just like a hostile takeover. There's just not much to like here. These are not people I would like to know in real life. The wife and her mother were evil caricatures...I guess so that I would think what Daniel and Nick were doing was okay. I've always though that other people's bad behavior isn't an excuse for your own bad behavior. So, in the end I liked the kids and Daniel's father who died early in the book, and that's it.
This isn't important, but it also struck me as implausible that these 2 wildly successful businessmen got married (to women) at age 20 while still in college. I suppose that happens. Personally, I didn't know a single married person at in the college dorms...and especailly not one who lived in the dorms with a roommate who was not their spouse. It kind of seemed like the author wanted Nick to have a teenager, but wanted him to be under 35 and well...this is the only way that would work.
Anyway, if this wasn't a challenge book, I may have DNF or just skimmed through it. 3 stars because this author is really just that good.
Did anyone else read this?

Picked by — Shy the WidowMaker
Thanks so much Shy!! In some ways I'm sorry to not have more to read, but in others I'm so glad I knocked these two off...they were great reads!
Reaper's MC
Devil's Game — ★★★★★ 2/3
Have I mentioned my love for the Reaper's? Ya, I'm kinda diggin' the Jack's now also! This is the third in the Reaper's MC series, but the focus is more on the Devil's Jack's MC. I think the dynamic between the two clubs could make for some interesting stories to come! That being said, I enjoyed seeing Em get her happily ever after...even though she's a Jack's old lady!
Reaper's Stand — ★★★★★ 2/4
Getting to know Picnic in the previous books helped to jump right in with this story! As a reader, you know enough about Picnic to be interested and sympathetic, but reading his story...WOW! How can you turn down a hot, alpha male, widowed, single dad? For the most part, I thought London was a good counterpart to Picnic...she had a few moments where I wanted to slap her, but being a single mom to a kid that is not even yours...made it easier to forgive her! Picnic and London made sense on a lot of levels and I really enjoyed diving into their story!

I have gone back and found a bunch of little novels like 4.3, 4.6 that I apparently overlooked. So after book 7, I'll look at audible to see if the author graciously packaged them in audio for me

I agree Ezi. After awhile, especially doing this challenge, I have noticed the stories seem to be very similar, once you reach #?? in a series. I do have a few authors that I will read everything they write. :)

Lucky Harbor after book 5 became a series I couldn't read back to back as it got formulaic. So once a month or every other month worked. I stopped after 9 because I needed a break :D
