In addition to the Library's Summer Reading Programs and Book Clubs, Goodreads has a fun way to keep you motivated to read: the annual reading challenge!

It's easy- you set a reading goal for yourself and try to achieve it. I've been participating in these challenges since 2011, and I usually hit the goal I've set for myself. In fact, some years, I've actually increased the goal as I went along! (But let's not talk about 2012... the only year I didn't hit my goal!)

Here's the 2020 reading challenge: https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/...

If you're already participating, how's it going? I'm six books behind schedule right now, but am determined to catch up!

I am halfway through my goal (25 books read out of my goal of 50). I am 4 books behind!

My problem is with my anxiety brain, I am re-reading the tried and true books that please me, and Goodreads doesn't count that... :)

Hi, Goodreads does count rereads toward your Reading Challenge. If you go to your read list and click edit on a book, you can add another read date, which counts it as another book you read.

Aimster I'm completed 74% of my goal. I've read 85 books this year and my goal is 115 :)

I should really start logging my re-reads! In the past, I didn't count re-reads toward my goal, but I've been doing a LOT of re-reading this year because of stress and anxiety. (Stressed in 2020? Wow, I wonder why!)

I'm doing a lot of my re-reads through audiobook- it's really fun to experience a book I enjoyed in a different format! I find myself picking up on new details and catching foreshadowing.

Anyway, I'm still behind on my goal... now I'm EIGHT books behind! I'm reading three books at once right now, so I'm sure I'll finish one soon. Ha!

Aimster, you are doing GREAT with your goal!!

Sharon Wolfson | 12 comments I challenged myself to read 52 books for the year. I’m 2 behind as of now. Because of the covid, I’m not driving much so I’m not listening to as many audio books in the car. I’ll have to step up the book reading to catch up.

That's great to know, Leila! I'm a lazy Goodreader so if it doesn't do it automatically, I don't do much about it, but I'll get better about that :D

Totally, Sharon! I'm listening to audiobooks while I run, but losing out on that commute time listening is slowing me down. I'm now NINE books behind schedule, uh oh!
