Is there any "good guy" character that you didn't like?

I only liked Dumbledore in the first one or two books and then didn't like him anymore.

And the one I'm probably going to get the most hate for (PLEASE DON'T HATE ME!):
I've never been massively fond of Hermione. I like her but I've never really loved her like most people seem to. A lot of the time I find her really grating and kind of annoying. I think I used to like her a lot more but it hasn't helped that most fans of the series seem to view her through rose-tinted glasses where she is literally "perfect" and can do no wrong which makes her comes across as a bit of a Mary Sue (which I don't think she is so I find it frustrating).

Krystal, here's a question: After Dobby was freed, was he unhappy? If he was truly happy when he was serving then why wasn't he miserable as a free elf?

For those who are going on about Molly: Her mothering and protectiveness are an endearing feature to me. She's like a lioness and has one of the best lines in the series "Not my daughter, you BITCH!" and then she kills Bellatrix.

She's written as a silly, muddled mother throughout but she's really fierce, fiercer than her husband and all of her children. I guess I admired that and cut slack on the annoying part.

As for Ginny, if she was so attached to Harry, then make her part of the team that figures out Voldemort's end. She doesn't go back after the holiday, so make it so she runs off with or joins Harry, Ron and Hermione. Make her a part of the effort. Either that, or kill off Ron. He's in there as comic relief but when the books get darker, his comic relief is often awkward.

BTW Why is there no "like" button? Primitive.

It doesn't matter that in the end he was "good", a bully is a bully. This is the guy of whom Neville was even more afraid of than of the Death Eaters that had tortured his parents into insanity. So no, he does not count as a good guy character whatsoever.

Sorry to get personal, but are you a history, sociology or anthropology professor? My sister's an anthro prof and your comments are very much like what she would say, albeit about Russia, which is her area of study. Her husband is a history prof. This sounds very much like regular conversation at her kitchen table.

Dumbledore, Snape (I don't count him as a "good guy" seen as he was a bulling a*shole to children but other people seem to, because bravery excuses that apparently..) and Cho Chang. Dobby got a little annoying at times too.

That's ok. I'm actually a research student in Creative Writing, looking to go into doctoral studies next year and (eventually) work in academia. That kitchen table sounds very exciting, to me ;)

I mentioned Hermione so the only ones not mentioned so far are Hagrid, the twins and I haven't seen anyone mention McGonagall yet either.

Okay, so Molly was alright, but she annoyed the hell out of me most of the time. Molly was just also completely boring to me.

As much as I love the Marauders, James was just horrible when he was at Hogwarts because of how he treated Snape. Snape deserved dislike because of the way he acted, but he didn't deserve James' cruelty.

I don't know if he would be considered a "good guy", but I loathed Snape. I just could not stand him; he was horrible.

Percy was occasionally amusing, but he drove me up the wall. He was so incredibly selfish and arrogant.

I also hated Cornelius Fudge because he was an utter idiot with no personality, and I think that's about it.

On a different note, however, a couple of baddies that I thoroughly enjoyed were Bellatrix, Narcissa, Regulus, and sometimes Lucius. They may have been absolutely horrible(except for Regulus and I would argue Narcissa as well), but they were fantastic characters.

Also, though we don't know too much about him, Gellert Grindelwald is a character and villain that greatly fascinates me. It would be pretty amazing if JK Rowling would do a short story or something about his and Dumbledore's relationship when they were young men.

I have really short patience when it comes to Dumbledore. Although I would like to see stories about him and Gellert in their young age.
