14. Harry thought there was something noble about Honey Chandler. Could you see what he saw? What are your thoughts about her in general?

Tracey (trakka) | 407 comments I think she was just doing her job and representing clients very well. She always seem to be one step ahead.

I didn't like her during the case but then I think I was biased towards Harry :-) I felt a bit sad when she was murdered.

I didn't see the nobility Harry saw in her. While I didn't always admire her tactics, I respected what she'd created for herself in a tough, male dominated field.

I was really sad when she was murdered.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Even though her tactics were questionable, I still liked her. She was smart and dedicated to her cause.

I think her chats with Harry were one of the highlights of the book and I was also sad when she was murdered. I was really glad that she never gave in to Bremmer's torture and Harry was able to find the envelope because of her strength of will.

And maybe that's the nobility he saw.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Yes

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Yes, ditto. There was a lot about her for Harry to admire, and their personal chats were an incredibly good part of the story. It showed her humanity outside the courtroom, even if the circumstances were skewed.
Harry knew she had gotten a note; I don't know how he knew, nor how he knew that the murderer wanted it back. I think I was reading too fast to take some of this story in, I was so worried about the next victim.

I wondered the same thing, Stephanie.

Jeff | 1 comments I don't think Bosch faulted her personally for being able to have her legal fees paid despite only getting $1 for her client. But was she really representing her client as best she could there? It seemed to me that she steered them toward a palatable option that didn't really do any good for anyone other than herself.

That's a thought provoking point, Jeff. I'm still conflicted about this woman.

Jim O'Donnell | 48 comments I see how Harry developed a sense of respect for Chandler, because of how she adeptly navigated all the events of the trial to benefit her client's interest. However, I don't see anything noble about her, and I'm unsure why Harry did.

Her withholding the note from Harry benefitted nobody but the killer. Had she given Harry the note when he asked her for it, she'd probably still be alive.

I agree, Jim.
