I’ve not seen the film, but having read the book, I think I might have preferred watching the film. I really wanted to like this book as it has a great premise – an elderly man remembering how he met his wife who is in a nursing home suffering from dementia. Unfortunately, I found it hard to stay interested and invested in the story, which was very simplistic. I also felt the characters were one dimensional, and the dialogue felt very stilted.

That's too bad. Did you DNF it, or did you make it to the end? I loved the ending of the film and I'm wondering if the book's ending is as powerful. I saw my grandparents in this couple which made it more special to me.

I don't know why, but I feel so guilty about not finishing books, I've only ever not finished two books in my life and I feel so guilty about them both. Only one was a proper DNF though - The Pickwick Papers - I was about 15, and I think I was just too young to finish this.
The other I've not finished was Alexander Hamilton whichI had this on loan as an ebook from the library. As it was so popular at that time, the loan period was only one week and I couldn't finish it quickly enough so I then ended up having to wait about 3 months for my turn again, only for the same thing to happen. So I gave up, and it's back on my TBR to start from the beginning again. Who knows if this will be the year I finally get around to it?
