Rachel | 1527 comments I really thought this book was called something like Shakespeare's Daughters or Shakespeare's Sisters, but I've looked through all the books with these titles on Goodreads and I can't find a match. It is not A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley either.

I read this around 2010-12 and it had been published quite recently. The cover had an illustration of one or more women, I think red and green were prominent colours. It was about a family and I think their last name was Shakespeare or something related. The Shakespeare analogies were very heavy-handed.

It was general adult fiction about a man with three adult daughters, I don't think their mother was in the picture. All three of them ended up living back home as adults for various reasons. One daughter was pregnant and early in the book she arrives in the middle of the night and starts eating out of the fridge because she has pregnancy cravings. Another daughter's marriage had broken down. The sisters do not always get along and have various rivalries. I can't remember much else about the plot, it was all interpersonal conflict between the sisters and their father. I think it was set in the US but I can't be more specific than that.

I was reminded of the book by this post https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... but that seems to be about a different book.

Any help appreciated.
