Popular titles digested into 600 words or less.
Most of the titles are British you might find a memoir/biography amongst them. I always thought he really did get the essence of some of the books I had read lol.

I don't need to read the full Andrew Morton bio on Princess Meghan now. Or Andrew Lloyd Webber's autobiography...

The Digested Read
Brideshead Abbreviated: The Digested Read of the Twentieth Century

Does anyone actually read Readers Digest books? I only read the non-fiction ones.

When I was a child and we spent summer vacation at my Grandparents, that's all there was to read there. It's actually what got me started on True Crime, the Readers Digest abridged Serpico.

Selina (literatelibrarian) | 3104 comments My dad somehow got them and we never read the fiction but I devoured the Readers Digest book of Facts.

We always entered the little sweepstakes but never won a thing. They would make out on the fancy envelopes you were already a winner and have all sorts of elaborate entries to get you to keep buying. The free Readers Digest books offered lined the bookshelf and looked impressive but were never touched. You cant donate them at second-hand shops as they won't take them. I am not sure how we got rid of ours but I suspect the recycle bin! After many years of never winning a thing somehow we got off their direct mailing list.

They are good at gardening books though. I don't know if they are still publishing them though.

The above digested reads aren't abridged versions like the Readers Digest books but actually pastiches/parodies of the actual books so they are funny.
