This story starts off seeming like a lighthearted novel about farming and gradually evolves into something much more. At times I felt like the protagonist was too callous, but he is generally a reasonable person.
This another world hopping story where the protagonist travels to different worlds. Each world feels completely different and unique than others. There is a wide variety of different eastern and western settings in those worlds.
It is satisfying to see Fang Yuan, the protagonist of the novel gain in power and get stronger than the people who originally had authority over him. As Fang Yuan grows in power throughout the novel, he gains more status and respect from other characters. Apart from Fang Yuan, there is no other character that stays throughout the entire book. This can be perceived as good or bad.
One thing that may be viewed as bad is that Fang Yuan keeps getting a level squish in each world that he goes to. He ends up being the strongest in one world only to end up being near the bottom in the next. This can be a bit repetitive to some.
