Hi! I don't know if you remember me. I've been missing for a year and a half! In that time, I got into cat rescue. I've been trapping and rescuing stray cats off the streets and out of people's backyards, injured ones, pregnant ones, you name it. I've also taken in over 100 kittens in an effort to feed, vaccinate (and sometimes fix) them and adopt them out to good homes. In doing all of this, I have not had time to read! It's so upsetting, because reading was my escape, my outlet away from boring life. Well, my life got slightly less boring I guess.
Taking in all of these kittens has taken a toll on my husband and I. I saved a TON of lives, but I'm crumbling. The stress, all the money it takes to feed and vet these cats and kittens... it's just too much for one person to handle. (I tried partnering with a rescue, it did not work out with my work schedule and they had too many rules.)
So, I'd like to get back into reading, back to my old self.
I have started many books this year, but only completed ONE and that was "Slenderman" by Will Hill. I personally loved it! What I could read of it- bc I also got 2 dogs this past December and one of them chewed it up >.>
I started a few more books like "After" by Anna Todd (the Netflix movie, am I right?) and others I can't even remember... but I AM halfway thru "Don't You Cry" by Mary Kubica and I really hope I can find the time to finish it. No, I will. (It's so sad, my Goodreads goal was always 50 books a year... My goal this year, that I just set today, is 10)
Books were everything to me. BookTube, hauls, my Goodreads goal, tags... Yea I even had a BookTube channel that I was super proud of until I fell off the map.
Maybe I'll proofread this later and add things, fix things, or elaborate... but for now I just wanted to post a quick update (to the 30 members in this group? Lol) Or maybe it's just for me, to remind myself of how happy I was when I was just reading books and not hunting stray cats and bringing litters of kittens home. I just want to get back to Goodreads and start reading again.
If you're curious about these kittens and cats, you can see them all on my Instagram @RichmondKittens :)
This post is all over the place, but I'd like to write up a post or something sometime about what reading/books/booktube means to me. I got into it all after I finally moved out of my mom's house, moved out of state with my now husband, and was my own person. And I chose to spend my time reading. It was a great time in my life. And then I got married! But it was when we moved out of our apt and into a house that I saw the opportunity to start taking in kittens... And I lost myself for almost 2 years.
Ok, that's enough from me. Take care guys and please let me know what you're reading! I don't even know what books are out anymore.
