Getting into Heaven or Hell

There are numerous mentions in the book that we each decide what our afterlife looks like. We can get into Heaven if we decide we belong there, and similarly, we can be damned to an afterlife in Hell if our souls decide we deserve to be punished.

If this is indeed how an afterlife works, consider how the death of someone would affect their belief of where they're supposed to end up. If someone is so depressed that they end their life, where do you think their soul would choose? If a woman is killed by a physically and emotionally abusive partner, where would she decides she belongs?

Does this idea lend more to the self care movement that we are experiencing?
