I didn't manage to complete ally the challenges for JAJuly unfortunately :( but it has taught me some lessons which I will take into next year and when I once again attempt the challenges I will I hope finish them all. I will say how I got on here:
So my plan was to read -
1. P&P, which I completed and absolutely loved even though I read it so often I'm starting to know parts of the book almost off by heart. I read this one rather quickly though at times I was reading along with the readalong so that was fun taking part in discussing it.
2. Sandition, which I did also read reasonably fast as it's a short book. I loved this one as well and am so glad I've read it.
3. Jane on the brain, exploring the science of social intellegence with Jane Austen - Wendy Jones, which I didn't managed to finish but did start. This one I must say I was/am disappointed with so far. The title is misleading as there seems to be lots of brain science and not enough Jane Austen. I tried to think of it like an interesting brain study but then that also annoyed me when I realised the author made a lot of assumptions based on little or no scientific research about brain function and mental illnesses such as Depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It seems to be a really big book too which isn't helpful. I'm not sure I'll even finish it as I've been reading it for a while and on my Kindle it says I'm only 15% through the book. This was a bad choice on my part.
4. Heart of Stone - Elle Katherine White, unfortunately I didn't get time to start this in July but I will read it hopefully this year.
5. Frankenstein - Mary Shelley, again I didn't start this one because I ran out of time but I'll read it later this year I hope.
6. P&P 1995 Colin Firth adaptation, I watched this with my partner and loved it so much (this is my fave direct adaptation of P&P which I've seen loads of time but it was his first watch and he enjoyed it too so that's a plus)
7. Bride and Prejudice 2004 film modern adaptation, I watched this again as a re-watch and again loved it.
So to conclude I completed 4 out of the 7 challenges. I had a lot of fun this month and enjoyed discussions on this group as well as watching YouTube videos put up by Katie at Books and Things and others relating to JA. I will definitely take part next year. Thank you all :)

It's fascinating in parts and I am upset the published version my parents bought me cuts out a lot. I need to know EVERYTHING! It's a good resource for the novelist and novel reader for background information.

I finished up with reading Jane Austen's juvenile short story "Evelyn". It's very bizarre and gets even worse when her niece Anna tries to make it Gothic. I still have to read the handwritten manuscript and the other story included, "Catherine, or the Bower". I remember liking that one and thinking it was a very early draft of Northanger Abbey.
