My favorite chacacter is LaVaughn because she is the main character and I can see everything through her perspective and not anyone else. It makes me agree with everything she says and does. this shows that the book was written in first person. in the novel, Lavaughn says,"But I was so suspicious"(235). This is showing that the quotation is direct because the quote says she was so suspicious.

Lisbet D | 8 comments True Believer by Virginia Euwer Wolff

My favorite character is LaVaughn because she's so determined to go to school and always do good, and when her friends decided to choose a different path, she knew it wasn't good for her.
"Sure I'm happy for her new job, this might mean i have more room for myself without her standing over me watching my own personal judgement". This is a direct quote because it shows how her mom judges the things she does and the decisions she makes and she doesn't like that.

My favorite character is Norma because Norma is a nice lady who tries to help Mazzy while her mom is laying on her bed, she takes Mazzy out to do Yoga and buy new clothes. "Mazzy, I know you're upset at me, but can we talk about it?". This is a direct quote since it's just showing that she doesn't want Mazzy to be upset with her.

My favorite character is david he has no last name yet he looks at things really close with his eyes and studies the things he sees.'' David trained his eyes back on the gray canopy and saw what everyone was waiting for'' pg2 Right now my character is indirect because he hasnt shwon the way he is just need more clues but he is smart. The quotation is because the way he is with his eyes and what he does with them in the story his eyes are the ones that do all the explaining.

Paper Towns by Jonh Green
My favorite character is Margo Roth Spiegelman the girl who one time was really good friends with Quentin the main character, she is my favorite because she is the popular girl at school who everyone likes and she's never scared to say what she thinks."I swiveled around when I heard the window open, and Margo's blue eyes were staring back at me. Her eyes were all I could see at first, but as my vision adjusted, I realized she was wearing black face paint and a black hoodie"(25). This is an example of indirect characterization because Quentin is telling us about what Margo was wearing, it gives us a better image about how she looked like. I think this reveals that Margo is a girl who likes to have adventures because she went to Q's house at the middle of the night.

My favorite character is Cole Benson. He was the one that helped Oakley (the main charter) gets through her problem. Throughout the books Cole was always the one that was there for her the one that protected her and the author does a fantastic job illustrating how Cole's love grows for Oakley and how much he cares for her. She always talks to him first because he is her best friend, boyfriend, and she always felt safe with him. At the end of the book Cole says “everything hurt so much. It was as if I was being stabbed all over. I loved her so much, more than anything in the world. Enough to let her go."Pg335 this is an indirect quote. The quote shows Coles broken heart and pain but at the same time it shows how much he loves which is why he is willing to let her go. After Oakley speaks up about what has happened, she stopped talking because her father would take her to get raped by a man named frank his coworker it all started when she was a little girl and she feared of hurting her family if she ever talked again which is why she chose to stay silent, they decided to move to Australia to get away from the place that haunted her the most after frank and her father were put in jail she felt relief but she had a hard time going back to her normal life and Cole understood her which is why he had to let her go no matter how much he loved her.

My favorite character is Andy Jackson. After the accident Andy feels very guilty and alone but deep down inside he knows that it isn't his fault and he has people there for him especially his friends and family and the counseler. "Most of my frinds were very understandin', and most of the teachers were cool-as cool as teachers can get- they do have there limits, you know. Some of 'em smiled alot. Most of 'em just keep pillin' on the homework like nothin' had happened". The quote shows that everyone was there for Andy and that he was never alone.

Moises Almanza | 9 comments Pele by James Buckley Jr.
My favorite character is this book is obviously Pele because hi is one of my favorite retired soccer player."While his parents worked to keep the family together, Pele played. he and his friends in Bauru played soccer at any time and any place they could. For poor boys like them, there were no soccer balls, nor cleats, nor even fields or goals. the ball they used was often just a big sock stuffed with rags or news paper". this is a direct characterization. The quotation shows how Pele and his friends are poor.

David Carbajal | 10 comments Monster
My Favorite character is Steve because he is tough and smart because he knows how he should act in jail. "The best time to cry is at night, when the lights are out and someone is being beaten up and screaming for help." Indirect it revels that Steve is smart and time by time he gets smarter and knows how to act

Luis F | 10 comments In the book Homeboyz by Alan Lawrence, my favorite character is Teddy because he is tough and helps the kid that is always mean to him. "...he took another huge chomp of his burger. "You're a dick," Micah replied. Teddy smile and slurped his milkshake". This quote explains it because the kid wanted some food but Teddy doesn't give him since he acts bad to him. This is direct, because he changed from being bad to a good guy after court.

message 18: by Dylan (last edited Jan 21, 2015 05:21AM) (new)

Dylan (ChungLee) | 8 comments In "The Reptile Room" by Lemoney Snicket, my favorite character is Violet because she is able to evaluate what is happening in any situation. Also she is able to find out how to get out of tough situations. When the book states "Violet looked at her brother, her eyes widened with excitement. Suitcase!" page 119, it is showing us that she found out where Count Olaf's evil belongings are kept without knowing whats inside, so its explaining how cleaver she is. She is a static character because she always is getting more and more mature throughout the story.

message 19: by Jordanp56 (last edited Jan 22, 2015 07:13AM) (new)

Jordanp56 | 9 comments Sunrise Over Fallujah by Walter Dean Myers My favorite character is Jonesy because he would help his friends when he needed to but then he dies from blood loss later in the book. He would always make jokes that his friend didn't think was funny like "this is hog heaven. You know, just before they kill the hogs they bring them out of the pen, let them wallow in the mud a while, then rub their backs. Then they get their choice, bacon eggs or hoppin' Johns!" He was a direct character because the author/main character would talk about his personality and traits

message 20: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Navarro | 10 comments Stolen: A Letter to My Captor
Book: Stolen.
Author: Lucy Christopher.
My favorite character is Ty, the Captor; because he is so handsome, intelligent, and crazy, but at the same time he is so cute with Gemma and he always is trying to take care of her even if she hate him.

"You are sitting on my paint" ... Your face went rigid and angry again as you surveyed the damage I'd done. Eventually you shrugged, sighing as your shoulders dropped down. "But you creatd a different pattern, i guess.... In a way, it's almost better. You're part of it." -PAGE 59

It is direct when the author tell us about his face and how he looks like. Then it is indirect when he start talking and we can notice good things in his personality.

In the quotation we notice that even when he may be angry he is very compressive, nice and cute with Gemma.
