Thomas talks about “code-switching between identities as a means of hiding in plain sight." Living with the fear that he was somehow “wrong” or inadequate, Thomas learned to hide certain parts of his identity in order to be accepted, to speak and behave differently depending on the social context or situation.

I wanted to share a couple excellent TEDTalks on the subject:

The Cost of Code Switching | Chandra Arthur: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bo3hR...

To Code Switch or Not to Code Switch? That is the Question. | Katelynn Duggins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sncGG...

Here for It is not only very funny, but it is also insightful and thought-provoking. Were there any parts of the book that stuck with you?

Please share your thoughts on the book so far and/or on the above TEDTalks.
