Jean--then it's time! Hopefully someone else will pick DJ and the Six and Own the Wind for you soon, because both of those need to be read as well!

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Marta, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for my pick. I just finished The Hard Truth About Sunshine by Sawyer Bennett and it was perfection. You know how certain stories just strike a chord with you and give you everything you want? This was one of those for me. Eleventy gajillion stars, rounding it down to 5 because that's how Goodreads rolls!!

So excited to see how much love you have for this one! It's already on my TBR but apparently needs to be moved up....I'll never catch up :)

It really was guys. And now that I'm gushing about it, I'll be totally crushed and embarrassed if you guys don't like it as much as I did!

No pressure Lisa! You know I'll like it...we're like "book twins" or something... :)

message 69: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments I'm calling Becoming Calder at 30%. It's not the book, it's me. I struggle with YA characters and these two aren't cutting it for me based on their living situation which I just learned lasts the whole book. I think I'd probably like book two so I may keep this one on the back burner. Honestly, I blame Jen for this pick, even though it was on my list. *shakes head* 🤣🤣

Marta The Guy on the Left (The Underdogs, #2) by Kate Stewart : 3*

I enjoyed this book, Troy surprised me a lot!A good surprise. But I had a really hard time with Clarissa, the world would be better place if every child was viewed as the greatest gift from a mom and dad!And Troy did that since that baby was born and Clarissa denying that role, not cool or legal at all!
But I never saw Troy struggled with time, but how he balanced school, sport, work and a kid?! Just weird!

Thank you again Melinda with your pick ;)

Thanks for the pick, Lynette! I finished it and it's a solid 4 stars for me. Meghan Quinn can write the heck out of a rom-com and this was a fun read.

message 77: by Lynette (new)

Lynette Habak (lhabak) Grey don’t hate me! I tried and just couldn’t get into it😫

It could just be the timing. I need more in a storyline right now. Something that really makes me escape. I am working a lot and just need a different genre.

I have been in the mood for fantasy/action and just finished Crescent City. It was hard to go from that to this.

Sorry everyone 😕

message 78: by Lynette (new)

Lynette Habak (lhabak) I know it is weird to here I wasn’t in the mood for this book but it is true. Maybe at a later date I can get there again.

I know so many of you loved it and I believe you. I just can’t go into this story right now.

I know this will disappoint and normally I will
Jump head first but I can’t explain why I can’t right now.

message 79: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments I haven't even started my book yet. ☹

What??!! Damn straight you'll try this again! It's in my top 2! But I suppose I'll cut you some slack because it's a big commitment. You have to read all 3 books because it only works as a whole. So I'll give you another week. (Pretend I'm Grey). 😂😂😂🤨

Marissa (marissadonofrio) | 169 comments I’m with you, Leslie! I’m struggling and my mind is so distracted. I can’t find focus and when I do, I can’t find it in me to read anything that’ll potentially bring my mood lower than it already is. I’m so sorry, Robin, but I’m setting aside The Nightingale. It’s not the book, it’s not the writer, it’s the content. It’s staying on my PFM for it to be picked another time but I just can’t do WWII right now when the world feels like it’s currently falling down around us. Sigh, I’m a major bummer of late!

I didn't even think about that when I picked it. That is some serious subject matter for the times. You get a pass! (Lynette does not) 🤣😆

message 83: by Melinda (new)

Well, if Robin makes you then we should make her finish Becoming Calder. 😜

I get it. I have barely read anything for fun this month. I read the two books for the challenges right at the beginning of the month and then I have been head long into editing. 3 books this month, it's been crazy busy.

message 87: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments I am seriously so happy to see everyone is struggling like I am....I am usually on top of these challenges and reading every day! I haven't read since the beginning of July......read the first chapter of The Nightingale and then stopped (even though I know I'm going to love it). I can't focus, been really busy with getting back to work, and just not feeling it! MAJOR, MAJOR SLUMP FOR ME! What the heck?!?!

Well...sort of. I got T-boned when a kid ran a stop sign and slammed into me, messed up my neck, shoulder and collarbone. Luckily, my kids weren't with me and my Durango can be replaced. I'm still in a brace and a sling, but I'm doing okay. Thanks for asking!

Layne | 146 comments I got to the 6% mark in my PFM and then Kate Stewart hit me with an ARC of Flock. Now I’m in a haze until Exodus shows up. I still have every intention of reading this book, Terrill! I’m just going to move it to the beginning of August and we’ll just pretend it’s still July when I finish it. ;)

Leslie | 2430 comments ok, I finally finished my July read: Never Enough Never Enough (Meet Me in Montana, #1) by Kelly Elliott

I finally carved out time to read this book & wow! I can honestly say I’ve never read anything quite like this. Bryn is a phenomenal author. This was a haunting story that left me feeling so many emotions. I’m so glad I finally took the time to read it. It was most definitely a 5 ⭐️ book! Thanks for the pick, T!
