laven (lavendelchen) | 321 comments Sometimes there is a librarians's note on an ediion saying something like this:
The ASIN B0174PRH7C for this book has been temporarily moved to this edition. Please do not revert this change until after 2017-12-09
. Thank you. (taken from https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...)

What does that mean/why does this happen, should I 'revert the change' and how do I do that?

Moloch | 3975 comments This is usually done when there's a giveaway (I think editions that are given away need to have an ISBN/ASIN).

Sometimes these edits and the librarian notes attached are done by Goodreads staff. The problem is that afterwards they sometimes forget to revert things back (!) and librarians who find a note by staff asking not to change anything are often unwilling to make edits, even if the date on the note has long passed.

I wish someone by staff answers this thread confirming that yes, if librarians find such notes and the date has passed, they can freely make edits.

The same problem happens every year when original publication dates are edited during the Goodreads Choice Awards.

You can move the ASIN/ISBN to the newest edition (if it isn't already), and remove the Note"

I don't think so: it's a "temporary" move, so not an ACE

Moloch | 3975 comments So it's done for giveaways, like I said

Aka ok we're both saying the same thing in different words
