The Circle
question
DeWitt Prompt #2

At the end of the novel, Mae sits beside Annie at a hospital bed within the Circle. We see how Mae's sympathy for Annie's condition is soon over taken by jealousy and a burning sense of envy. Not knowing what Annie was dreaming about was what Mae referred to as, "...an affront, a deprivation, to herself and the world." It is then that we see just how entitled Mae thinks she has become. We can put this into the context of our society today, and look at the ocean of information that is available at our fingertips. So, what sort of information do you feel that you are entitled to?
