I don't have much of an idea what to say about this one. Wiki informs me that he was both born in the same town as me, and studied at the same university, not, I hasten to add, when I was there. I have vague recollections of my mother playing some of his records when I was very young, not that I could name any of them, or that I have ever looked for them since.

Apart from a mention of one or two songs he done, Wiki doesn't give us any info about releases so it looks like you'll have to go digging.

I have 13 albums by Sir Ken (three of them are doubles). When I knock out all the duplicate tracks, I'm still left with 225 songs by the great man. It was hard to choose but I've gone with a hymn. I'm not particularly religious but I'm lucky enough to have attended a F.A. Cup Final at the old Wembley and to hear the crowd sing this is a truly moving experience. From the album notes:
"... back to his birthplace ... recorded at Paisley Abbey .... with probably the best choir in Scotland. The sessions took place from midnight on, when the Renfrew & Bute Constabulary assumed authority over a reluctant Paisley Council to close the noisy, cobbled roads around the Abbey so that music could take precedence over the flow of traffic."

This week's winner, SussexWelsh bags the gold with The Peat Fire Flame, not sure I had heard that one before. Second place, Brass Neck was nearly conquering alien territory with Skye Boat Song. Splitting the bronze medal, Val and Spacepig with Abide With Me and These Are My Mountains.
