SarahKat | 6294 comments This thread is to discuss City of Bones, the first book in the The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare.

Pages: 485 pages

Length: 1 Month (July)

Participants: Ruthie, Sunshine, Fiona, Julia, D.L., Irma, Diskhita

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Happy Buddy Reading!

D.L. | 1519 comments Hi, everyone! I can't wait to discuss this book and series with all of you. This is yet another book I've had on my TBR for years now. I saw the movie of it once called "The Mortal Instruments" with Lily Collins and remember enjoying it, but I hear it's a lot different than the book so we'll see how they compare. :)

Ruthie (ruthieram_reads) | 985 comments Hi DL! I am in the same position. Have wanted to read for years, saw the movie and while there are cheesy parts I was intrigued into the world. I haven't read ANY of Cassandra Clare's book and read an article on where to start and it suggested this series.

The plan is to work my way through all of her books and series which is a daunting task!

D.L. | 1519 comments I plan to read the whole series as well. One book at a time lol Glad there will be people to discuss the books with! That makes it so fun.

Dikshita (Nightime BookNerd) | 206 comments Hi guys. I am always excited to be a part of the buddy reads but this one is extra special. I have been planning to start the Shadowhunters series for the longest time now. AndI am so glad that I will finally begin the same. I just cannot wait to discuss the books with all of you guys in the coming months.

Ruthie (ruthieram_reads) | 985 comments I should be getting this in a few days from my library app. Will let y'all know when I start

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) This was a cool read for me. I enjoy paranormal stuff, and this book has it in spades!

Julia I'm loving the book so far. I heard there's a movie and TV show on amazon, but was wondering if anyone on here has seen either one of them. If so were they worth seeing? Thank you.

message 14: by Ruthie (new)

Ruthie (ruthieram_reads) | 985 comments I finally started it! I remember the movie being cheesy but it’s been years since I’ve see. It. Never tried the show

message 15: by Irma (new)

Irma Alam (irmaalam) | 145 comments Starting today. I managed to finish 9 buddy reads this month. 2 more left 😊

message 16: by Ruthie (new)

Ruthie (ruthieram_reads) | 985 comments Awesome Irma!

I'm liking the book so far! In the middle of Chapter 9!

message 17: by Dikshita (new)

Dikshita (Nightime BookNerd) | 206 comments I am hoping to start it tomorrow or day after.

message 18: by Irma (new)

Irma Alam (irmaalam) | 145 comments Two third done. The writing style and story reminds me of the lightning thief. The mystery is very slow at getting solved, there is always a new murderous adventure around the corner and somebody gets brutally injured every time!

message 19: by Ruthie (new)

Ruthie (ruthieram_reads) | 985 comments I finished it and really liked it! The banter btw characters always made me laugh, I like the shadowhunter world and want to learn more, and I liked the twists!
