As I mentioned in the sign-up thread, my son and I have started this on audio. It's hard to keep track of where exactly in the book we are, so my comments will likely all be responding to other comments. I wouldn't want to accidentally spoil anything!

In case anyone is curious, the narrator is good, but his voice for the dragon is really goofy. Like Mr. Bean's rendition of a dragon voice. It makes everything the dragon says not seem serious.

I'm on Chapter 25. I'm not sure I have much spoilery stuff to say at this point. I like the humor in this book and it's keeping me more interested than a lot of other YA/middle grade books on audio.

My book doesn't have chapter numbers so went back to Table of Contents and counted down - would put me on chapter 17 - Thunder Roar and Lightning Crackle.

Question
For the last several months I cannot view my "compatibility" page. My goal is to read all the books on that page. But when I click on it, it goes to that page for a split second and then switches to a full screen facebook page. When I cancel that facebook page it goes right back to it. So I have not been able to see how my compatibility page compares with my friends. Any ideas how to get that working again. This book we are reading now is on that page. It is the reason I starting reading it. Ron

I'm not sure what compatibility page you're talking about. I know they moved the "compare books" button to members' bookshelves. So if you want to compare your books to someone else you'd go to their bookshelf and it's on the top.

s you to compatibility. A set list of book, by type. Compared to your friends completions for the same books.

Oh interesting. I just looked and mine does the same thing. I got it to stay on the compatibility page by just cancelling the loading of the page before it jumped to facebook.

That is what I used to do when it came on only a part of the screen and let me cancel. But now it immediately changes to a full screen facebook and if I cancel it goes right back to the same facebook page. If I even post it on facebook (what it wants me to do) it still goes back to the same facebook page. I wrote to the help page this weekend but haven't got an answer back yet. Thanks for looking.

I am on Chapter 30: Vision of Perfection. Here are some thoughts, although honestly I tend to zone out with audio books so some of my questions MAY have been answered already and I just missed them (argh).

Chapter 26: (view spoiler)[I love Solembum. He's probably my favorite character and I hope he shows up again. Angela tells Eragon there will be a betrayal in his family and he assumes she's talking about Roran but I have a feeling it's someone else we aren't aware of yet? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 30: (view spoiler)[ I don't remember what chapter it was revealed in, but Brom being an agent of the Varden is cool. When he first showed up saying he writes songs I was like... uh yeah sure dude.

Also, the Urgals are working for some unnamed leader now. The king who has the other eggs maybe? Or some relative of Eragon's (because of the betrayal prophesy)? (hide spoiler)]

This is well-written and I'm still enjoying the humor, especially most of Saphira's responses to Eragon. I still wish the narrator didn't do such a goofy voice for her though.

This book reminds me a lot of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, in plot and in style. I am on chapter 29 - A Costly Mistake. How about being able to raise a dragon to be your friend and your transportation.

I made a list of what the witch said about his life. Will check them off as they occur. The beautiful woman keeps coming up in his dreams.

Just finished that chapter (37: Legacy of a Rider)! (view spoiler)[So sad! I'm glad Murtagh is with Eragon though. At least he and Saphira aren't on their own. But do we trust him? I don't know.
I think the woman in the cell is either Eragon's mother or his future great epic love. Or, this thought just came to me, maybe Saphira? Like her soul? Is that too weird and deep for this book? Haha (hide spoiler)]

I am on chapter 48 - Flight Through the Valley. I believe it's just the 2 of us for the buddy read.

(view spoiler)[ the woman was rescued by Eragon, same woman in his dreams. But she is unconscious...well not quite. They are able to communicate via mind. She has been poisoned, and death is postponed if she stays unconscious. They are running but being chased. This will be his epic love. (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

I don't plan to read anymore in this series. Am reading this because I want to read all the books in the compatibility page, which I cannot even get to anymore because it immediately changes to a facebook page. I have written goodreads about this but have not received a response. Any help here.

I also can't commit to the second book. I let my son choose what we listen to together so he doesn't get burned out on any one thing and start hating reading.

Well, it is finished. A good novel, better I think then Lord of the Rings. But there are three more. in the series. Not for now though. Only two of the predictions, maybe one and a half, from Angela were fulfilled in book 1. I still want to know the answers to the others - the Sailing ship, never going back to his homeland, and the family betrayal. And especially the EPIC romance. If you ever continue on with the series at a later date let me know. I have enjoyed reading several books with you SarahKat. You finish what you start. Ron

I read this one not too long ago, and it's enjoyable. Not overly exciting, but it has its moments. I have yet to pick up any of the others in the series.

I'm on chapter 52. Still hoping to finish before the month is out but of course my kid and I only listen in the car. (view spoiler)[ It is a bit confusing on audio at this point because there are so many new characters/races/places that are being mentioned. Some of them with really similar names. However, Eragon has held my and my son's interest much better than most fantasy audios.

Murtagh turning out to be Morzan's son was interesting! I wonder what will come of that when the people they are with right now find out. (hide spoiler)]

I finished! On the last day of the month! woo!

The ending was really good. A lot of this did remind me of Lord of the Rings for a younger audience. Overall we enjoyed it. Kiddo wants to listen to the second book too (but not for a buddy read as it will likely take us 2 months to read it).
