What's the tone - e.g., cozy mystery? any romance?
Can you tell us more about the main character?

I read this book only a couple of years ago but I got it in a charity shop so it could have been published anytime from even the 1950s.
Not that much happens in the book, it's more about the characters but there is a well described scene in an old fashioned Edinburgh hotel or up market guest house. It is set in the days when everyone in a hotel all sat down to dinner at the one time. I think the tour party got all dressed up in tartan and they visited the Edinburgh tattoo.
i remember looking the author up and she wrote another book which seems to have been quite similar but not set in Scotland. there is some sort of mystery in the book, centring around the highland hotel and the filming I think and i think there was an american couple among the tour group.
if it helps i remember the book was soft cover (rather than paperback) and was orangey brown, It had a self published/small publisher sort of feel in the type style and binding. I can remember quite a bit about it except the title or author and searches to do with coach, bus, trip, tour have yielded nothing.
