MY GOODNESS. I'm on chapter 5 and things are really heating up, and boy does Kenneth know how to describe food! I found my mouth watering over his descriptions! :O

Tell me about it, I got hungry reading that part XD. He makes food descriptions as scrumptious as they should be. And not boring at all. Matt Cruse is also perhaps one of the few male narrators I don't feel annoyed with (he's got a really nice and relatable voice!)

Yes! I agree, though I have to say I find myself writing and reading more from a males pount of view than a females. Not sure why, since I AM female. You'd think that would effect my preferance xD

Lol yeah I totally get that. I look at how many rps I have and more than half are from a male pov. But strange, most of the books I read are still female pov with the exception of a few!

Yeah haha, I got really into the story XD it picks up really fast after that scene.

Well it helps you keep count of your words and encourages you do 50k in one month, like a reading challenge so it is helpful. They also have revision months after November for what you wrote too.

Yes and no. There are forums where you can talk to others doing the Nano, and the Nano website also has tips and links for how to write your novel lol. But hehe, for me, I think the best way to sort out your thoughts is to start writing them out ~ I definitely know what it's like to have a mind full of chaos XD.

Oh good, I'm glad I'm not alone! I think that's been the hardest part of landing on my feet with my novels, (my last one crashed and burnt at around page 300). I just can't organize everything I want to write down about the plot, and then just don't. Then while I'm writing my brain starts to forget details, and suddenly I'm left with a plot that has to many holes to stand up! All because I didn't work it out before hand.
Organizing my plot is likely my hardest thing at the moment xD

Lol that's normal for most writers! O.O if you were at 300 pages....
Well, this is where you start to figure out what works for you best. For me, I have to start writing as soon as possible to get the scene out of my head and onto paper/screen. And then from there, I just slowly work my way to where I want to go next, and in between make notes on significant events. Then again, that's what revising and editing if for after your first draft ^^ to catch all the holes and to make it even better. I severely hate editing but it's worth it. I can't plan much ahead, usually I can only have a rough basis, but all the intricate plots come in a little later.

Yes, I've heard that the real writing starts during editing. Most just say the first draft is a slowly forming skeleton, and that it doesn't really start to blossom 'till like the third edit!
So, that is very hopeful! --but, just got to get tot that point now.
Out of curiosity, when you're writing those scenes down, are they in order? Or are they just whatever pops into your head at them moment, and then you connect them later?

Mhmm, that sounds about right. Editing and revising is very important (even if I really dislike it!).

Usually they're in order. Sometimes though there's a scene I definitely want to add, but have to wait until later to add because it wouldn't fit into the part that I'm writing.

Hahaha, you're so sweet! ^-^ Thank you, I'm sure I'll get there eventually! I love writing SO much, so even if I have to wade through my own disorganization to get there, I will!

Oh! That makes sense. Actually, writing it scene by scene might make it less of a sit down and finish it and more of an exciting adventure!

:) it helps if you give yourself a time limit. Well for me it does. I give myself a couple of months to do a full draft, good or not and then put it aside for revision later.

^^^^^ I saw your review, I do agree that Kate was a bit much sometimes, but that's what makes reading it from Matt's perspective so much better ^^^

Yeah, we all have our different opinions really-- a lot of my friends LOVEED Kate, but yes! Matt was an amazing character, and I loved it being in his POV. I thought a lot of the things he said about Kate were really sweet too, (though at times I didn't like it because it was for her).

and GOODNESS. The descriptions; they were so rich! I was in love with the detail.

Lol. I didn't mind her so much, probably because she was supposed to be like that, and compared to another character in another book who gave me a much bigger headache, Kate was a relief. I liked the banter between Matt and Kate, but definitely, Kate sure gave Matt a hard time, and that poor guy had to go chase after her!!

~~ oh by the way, I went and checked out your blog (I was bored lol), and I saw your post on Role Playing, and I DEFINITELY AGREE ON ALL THOSE POINTS

And back to Airborn, oh yessssss Kenneth Oppel's writing is easy to read yet abundant in details.

I can agree with that! It was intentional rather than just coincidental, and really---it's for that I can appreciate her character. I heard though she kind of matures over the course of the next books? Would you agree?

Oh, thank you very much! Yes, when I wrote that I was just so darn annoyed and had to get my feelings out on the page. BUT REALLY THOUGH. There is so much more I should add to that list, :(

She does! Well she still has that high class kind of behaviour, but she does mature more.

You pretty much expressed everything I think and feel about rping.

I think when I first picked up Airborn, years back, sometime in highschool, I was going to put it down because I was like...guy perspective...nah....but by the time I thought about putting it down...I was finished....haha the writing hooked me.

I can see that, makes sense too! I tend to lean towards the same path, (because lets face it, girls are more relatable and more interesting) but I started getting into some really engaging male POV recently and am starting to change my tune.

BTW, when are we set to do a group read? I'm so excited!

It's totally true, guys think such strange things sometimes, hence why I usually don't like reading from their perspective, but Matt was interesting! And yeah, I do a lot more rping from a male perspective now lol.

:)) Since this poll is the first one for the group, it'll end at the end of this month and we can start at on feb 1st (whereas for the other quarters, Sam and I will get the poll out one month before the actual Quarter starts).
