The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

My mum told me this is one of her favourites so it might be my read for that week later in the year. Like you, I've never seen the film, so I don't know what will happen in it. :-)

The book thus far is an easy read. However, I wish the author would have put more of a greater detailed backstory in for the characters. It would make more sense to me to show how much they loved each other back then to show why they still have a connection. The few paragraphs on what they did the summer they fell in love aren't cutting it for me.
Book Update: 1-13-2015
I just finished the book. It only took a few hours in total in actual time spent reading. Overall I'm slightly underwhelmed by the book. I have heard raves about it from friends and was expecting an amazing read. It's not that it was horrible, but it was slightly predictable. Like I had stated earlier I wish there was more of a backstory. I wish the story would've included all the moments it mentioned briefly in greater detail. If the story would have told the story of how the first fell in love and every moment of their loving life till the end I think I would've liked it more. It's a sweet book with a sweet tale of love, but it just left me wanting more.
For week two I have chose the romance novel The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I know many of people who have read this and loved it. I expect it to be a very heart felt book that is different from what I normally read. I have also never seen the movie so I will be diving into this book not knowing exactly what happens. V
