This will be like a 'question of the day' forum but I'm not going to commit myself to posting every day. I will do my best. Thought it might be fun to learn more about the members here.

We'll start with: Where do you live? You can be specific if you want or give a general area, such as Midwest USA, if you want to be more private.

Cool--one of my brothers and his family settled in the interior--he teaches at TRU and lives in that city.

Fishface | 2014 comments Late to the party, sorry! I live in Michigan, in the base of the thumb, and my all-time favorite book is probably Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders, which I have been re-reading since 1977.

My favorite book is anything by Rick Bragg. Hope he is working on another one. They are all memoirs of his family.

Pride and Prejudice 2005
Funny Girl and Gone With the Wind are also favorites.

TV Shows - to hard to pick but I loved Psych, Lost and definitely The Office.

It's a toss-up between In a Child's Name: The Legacy of a Mother's Murder and Serpico

Not sure I have one. I don't usually reread books (unless I've run out of new ones to read! ... lol)
Although, a favourite of mine is Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree by Robert E. Barry because I used to read it aloud to my daughter ... with gusto! ... lol We both have a copy of it, and we still love it.

Diane in Australia | 338 comments Koren wrote: "Question #3

I probably don't have a true 'favourite'. As to movies, I have always enjoyed "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby. I don't own a TV, and haven't for most of my life, but of the shows I've seen I'd pick Star Trek ... all of them ... lol

Movie: ATTACK OF THE MUSHROOM PEOPLE, aka MATANGO.

TV show: MASH.

Selina (literatelibrarian) | 3104 comments All time favourite movie - I've probably watched Gone With the Wind more times than any other movie. I've also read the book a couple of times.

The Sound of Music also gets me.

TV show...

I think some of the early episodes of The Simpsons were favourites that I wouldn't get tired of seeing. I probably watched way too much tv when I was younger. I don't remember half of them. I hardly watch tv at all now.

The Sound of Music is a movie I can watch over and over again. My sister visited the church that they were married in when she went to Europe. I am not sure if the real couple got married there but the film couple did.

Our whole family enjoys Psych, so once I watched every single episode on Prime (over several months). I don't have a favourite show, but that is one of my favourite comedy shows. There aren't many that all 5 of us find funny, though. That said, overall the final season was the weakest with a few really good ones.

But for Pride and Prejudice, my all time favourite is the PBS one starring David Rintoul and Elizabeth Garvey--it is what got me to read Jane Austen in the first place. David Rintoul IS Mr. Darcy to me. I saw it three times back then and once a few years ago.

Book related, I would add: When they turn the corners of the book down instead of using a bookmark.

People that repeat themselves a lot when they are talking. When they say "Like I said..." and then tell you the same thing they just said.

message 47: by Karin (last edited Jul 12, 2020 04:40PM) (new)

Karin | 796 comments I'm out! As someone with a lot of allergies, I was a mouth breather as a child and used to chew with my mouth open as a child. Yes, I have overcome it, but it was hard. My eldest used to do it because she was a tongue thruster like my mother's father, and it was hard to get her to stop. I always wonder if no one ever taught these people better, because, believe it or not, most of them probably aren't even aware they do it (and it is very annoying).

Also, because I have raised three kids and taught piano, I now tend to repeat certain point because it has become such a habit (and it annoys ME when I do it!). I try to make a joke out of it and get people to laugh, because most of the time it's not necessary.

I think I am perhaps a bit of a social pariah ;).
