Kate | 297 comments Hello all!

Today is the start of our APL Summer Reading Challenge for 2020! I wanted to send out a little information for those of you who are interested in participating this year again, or for the first time!

First, the Albany Public Library Adult Summer Reading Challenge will be hosted from Monday, June 22 to Friday September 4.

Second, you can participate in a few ways:
1. Online (through this APL Goodreads group). If you want to participate through the Goodreads group, leave a comment in the Week 1 discussion topic saying you want to be signed up (with your preferred name and username, please!);
2. Readsquared. This year, APL has another online option available for kids through adults. Create an account here http://aplny11.readsquared.com/ Once you have an account, you can participate in additional missions and activities to earn points.
(Note: A Readsquared account is not required, if you are participating here in the APL Goodreads Group)
3. Paper forms will be available soon! Stop by a branch with curbside pick-up to get your paper form. A PDF form will also be available for download from the APL website.

Keep track of your reading throughout the summer! You will earn points based on how many books you read. Any books you finish during this time period counts, no matter when you started reading.

150 points for each book read

1500 points = APL SRC T-shirt prize

This year, prizes will be distributed at the end of the Summer Reading Challenge. More details to come!

Each week, we’ll put up a new post on this Goodreads group. When you finish a book, comment under that week’s post with the title and author of the book or books you finished. Feel free to include some thoughts about what you read! In each week's post, we'll also include a weekly reading list as inspiration. These books are just to give you some reading inspiration - don't feel obligated to stick to these lists of themes!

Please feel free to comment, email- albanyreads@albanypubliclibrary.org or call our dedicated APL SRC Google phone line (518-362-8542)- with any questions!

Susan D'Entremont (susande) | 286 comments Is there any benefit to doing Readsquared ? I've gotten used to the Goodreads group, and I like the themes and suggestions, but I can learn new tricks if prodded.

Kate | 297 comments Hi Susan,

We think we have a good thing going here on Goodreads too! The one benefit with Readsquared is the opportunity to participate in the activities to earn badges and points. Readsquared does not have discussion platform like here on Goodreads.

The themes and suggestions will be here all summer long. We can't wait to discuss books with you all.

Have you checked out our Week 1 suggestions yet?

Jeff Shubert | 1 comments Is there going to be a summer reading program for kids?

message 5: by Kate (new)

Kate | 297 comments Yes, Kids can participate virtually on Readsquared for the Albany Public Library Summer Reading Challenge.
Here is the link to sign up for an APL Readsquared account http://aplny11.readsquared.com/
Kids can sign up individually. There is also an option to sign up as a family.

Paper trackers will be available soon at curbside locations.
