Elizabeth (Alaska) The first one for The Maltese Falcon is already combined. Are the authors on all of these the same? It will be really much easier for all of us if you don't list all of the individual ones but instead just say which titles need to be combined. Then we can filter on the combine page.

If they don't have the same authors, then we can fix the author to the right one and combine.

Some of them had his name reversed but I think you fixed this and some have this variant

I should have posted earlier. I am going to stop because nothing I have done after my first combine has worked anyway.

Elizabeth (Alaska) No problem, Emily. Major combines is something I've been working on lately. I spent several days each on Edith Wharton and Robert Louis Stevenson recently (and others). Just fiddling a lot with public domain authors in general.

I'll just keep working on Dashiell Hammett.

Missy, if there are titles that don't have Dashiell Hammett as the main author, please post those in a separate post in this thread. Otherwise, just post the main title without having to make an extra effort for the strays.

Walter Scott --- WOW - found tons of his stuff credited to Andrew Lang, who wrote the prefaces without Scott on them at all. I tried to combine them at the time, and decided Arabian Nights was enough without getting into Scott. lol

Suzi - did you see I edited my post? I didn't do Walter Scott (what was I thinking?) - it was Robert Louis Stevenson. I'm sure Walter Scott needs a ton of work - I'll put him on my list. I start with removing all the Large Print and see what needs to be combined.

Elizabeth: No, I had just merged the author profile in msg #12, because I thought combining would be easier if all books were on the same profile to start with.

Then I looked at his combine page and because there were tonnes of stray Kindle editions I started combining from the top.

Apart from The Dain Curse, none of the titles I combined were listed in this thread.

ETA Oh, I see The Adventures of Sam Spade and other stories are listed now (msg #17). Those were the first I did.

I separated out the ones that said Page 166 - they didn't look like all of the original, maybe truncated but not an abridged. Not sure what those are, but they can be recombined again if my perception is wrong.
