The heroine I think also gets hit by car while getting bad news on the phone. The hero takes her in and helps to watch over her. She does leave to early and ends up back in the hospital. I think there were a group of girls who slowly befriended her and one of the girls was mia.

I’m pretty sure I read it 2016-2107. The heroine and hero are both in college. The heroine is quirky but the hero is still drawn to her. When she gets injured he tries to take care of her but she gets sick again so he has to forced her to stay with him.
