There are 2 books about a private detective with the first name Cormand(?) who hires a temp secretary who begins assisting in his investigations. He is the estranged son of A rockstar who lives and works out of an upstairs office. She is engaged, but her fiancé becomes dismissive of her work. I believe it was 2 years ago when I read the second in this series.
