Cody suspects Lucy had something to do with what happened to Brad Prenter. They dated for two years so why would he jump to that conclusion?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I was just as shocked as Lucy when he questioned her about it. He shows he really didn't know her.

He was so out of line here to accuse before investigating. Cody should have known better. Like you, Anita, it was in this moment I felt he didn’t know her at all and got why they broke up.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I agree. Why would someone you had been with for 2 years not know you and accuse you the way he did. At that point, it was understandable why they didn't work out.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments If he suspected Lucy had snapped and decided to kill Prenter, why didn't he look into it first before accusing Lucy? If he really did think she killed him, he just put her on guard.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments That was so wrong of Cody and really upset, but it also upset me that Lucy would think he was the one who sent the flowers. You would think that he would know Lucy better than that.
I agree, Robin.

Christina T (crysteena73) | 109 comments I thought he was out of line and not a very good investigator if he could accuse the woman he was dating for 2 years and still was friends with. Of course we didn't really know Lucy and she could have become that obsessive in the 6 years since we met her. At this point in the book I would have to assume Cody would know Lucy better than we do. It still felt wrong though. It doesn't fit with what we wanted to believe about Lucy.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments Cody must have gone off the rails with jealousy, which colored his entire history with Lucy -- this is the best I can do for him, but I really didn't like him enough to go that far. He couldn't have truly known and loved her. Sad ending for him, and we really didn't get any of that spelled out for us.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3484 comments I agree Charlene, Cody was driven by jealousy. It doesn't make sense that he accused her so easily and destroyed their friendship. The sad thing is that Lucy was so honest with him about her past, and he turned on her so vehemently.
