SOLVED. New Adult fantasy/paranormal NOT academy. I think book came out less than 2 years ago, most likely in past year. Fantasy type/alternate reality. Twin princesses: one is ice cold/ruthless, the other is kind.

I know it's set in a magical land or alternate reality. I think it came out within last year? It's a queen that has 2 daughters which if I recall correctly are identical . Inside they're so NOT identical as one is just cold as ice, and one is kind. Sadly the kind princess doesn't seem to have as much magical talent as her cold sister (i think they're twins). They live in a land which can't have someone that's half human or powerless.
The kind princess' best friend challenges her to a competition to get a good standing/job in their society. Princess doesn't know it's because her friend would be killed if discovered she is in fact half human (I think it's human?). The princess BFF's mother is one of the queens oldest best friends, yet when the queen learns of this betrayal she instantly kills her oldest friend. The ice cold princess is the one who let slip that her sister and said friend did the challenge. She hypothesized the friend used her sister.as she was.hiding something. SO when the queen called her own BFF and confronted her, the truth came out. Moments later the queen beheaded her own dearest friend(and mum of the nice princess' friend) if i recall.correctly. The kind daughter later figured out her mother actually killed her oldest friend to protect her. I vaguely recall maybe this princess was thought to be weak and queen feared this daughter would be banished or killed? The nice daughter also had a crush (i think) on the boyfriend of her sister who happened to be the head of said sisters guards. Yes there's lots more to it....but that's a snippet that I recall.
Does this ring a bell for anyone!??? I've so many books, and I just can't recall which series this is. Help? Oh and it's probably considered New Adult (I think?). As far as i can recall its not straight fantasy like Game of Thrones. Its also (not that i can recall) not a book where the main character has multiple love interests. For the life of me i cant recall the author, title or name of said series. Downside to reading so many books. I can recall plots, but sometimes names of series not so much. I hope i filled this out correctly? I do.know the queen adores the kind princess..i vaguely think this princess has more powers that any of them.(including herself) are aware? She only had the one main friend growing up unlike her mean sister who is the queen bee as it were, and always tries to hurt (emotionally or physically) her sister.
