Share any tips on characterization here.

I like to write out character charts before I start actually writing anything, just because it helps me get a better sense of how I want my character to behave, speak, act, etc.

☀︎El In Oz☀︎ (elinoz) for me, the characters will sort of pop into my head, in the sense I see what they look like and one main trait. then as I write about them their personalities expand as I discover more about them. once I have a full cast I will make short character guides with random info (height, fav colour, etc) just to make them seem like humans. It's important for me that they seem like real people, that at some point I may be friends with

Sushie || "To gain your voice, you must forget about having it heard" -William Ginsberg (73687) I like looking at character tropes and subverting them to make a more unique character. There's a lot more that goes into my character building than that, but I think that is the process that I can explain easiest!
