ABANDONED. YA Fantasy. Boy trying to escape someone or something by running into an artwork he quickly drew. He was taught to travel to different places using his drawings.

I can remember a bit in the book where the main protagonist is running through an artwork that he has just drawn hastily to get away from someone, he trips on some grass that he has hastily drawn. This character has been taught to create artworks that he can enter to travel to diferent places.
This has been bugging me for ages and after a bit of research i think it may be the night circus? The book was a Young Adult fantasy novel.

I remember reading it when I was on grads 8 or 9 from my school library, this was about about 10 or 11 years forgive or take a year

Do you remember who taught the boy how to do this (friend, wizard, teacher at school)? Can you recall anything about the cover, or about any other characters in the book? What about the setting -- was it our real world, just with this added magic skill, or was it a completely different fantasy world? Do you remember anything about the skill -- e.g., did it require an inborn talent, or could anyone do it if they had special paints/chalk?

This is not exactly right... But could it be one of the Charlie Bone series? He learns to transport himself through pictures.
