Easy, there. That's pretty judgmental. Feel free to say that you didn't like it, and why you didn't, but there's no need to insult people who do.

Kate I am sorry I didn’t mean that to come across that way. You are right. I hope no one takes that offensively, as that isn’t how I meant it.

No worries, we all have different opinions :)

Burnsy I like this book but the movie is not so good.

Mortsy I disliked the book a lot, just like I disliked the movie. Nothing that makes you seek in the book and love it ,just a ton of words.

Burnsy I disagree with you, but then we all have different tastes.

Pera I read one paragraph and stopped I did not like it and the movie was horrible. I totally agree with you

Agree. I felt strange reading it for the first time last year, like I was supposed to like it. I mean, I enjoy fantasy and science fiction as much as the next guy, but A Wrinkle in Time was ehhhh.....

Which paragraph? That's a pretty speedy decision lol!

Michele Karo wrote: "...este libro esta enfocado al publico infantil. Los niños ven el mundo de manera distinta a nosotros..."

Good point. Some books speak to children more effectively than to adults.

I read the book as a teenager and was mesmerized by the novel. Read it again 4 years ago and was remarkably unimpressed. Our tastes change in the course of a lifetime.

As a freshman in college I read THE POWER AND THE GLORY by Graham Greene and thought it to be the second worse book I had to read in school, NADJA by Andre Breton receiving first place in that contest. I am currently reading THE QUIET AMERICAN by Greene and find it brilliant.

In my sophomore year h.s. I read MY ANTONIA by Willa Cather and found it boring. I read it again 5 years ago and found it brilliant.

Case closed.

Laila_The_Gerbil I have to say...the movie was far more entertaining, however, I scanned the book. While I didn't do a close read, I found it ok. For older readers.

Anamika It is literally the best book

Vicki I loved when I first read it (about 6 years after it was published) and I love it now - but maybe it was a book for its time. Maybe you have to be in my generation to fully appreciate it. For sure, if you are expecting traditional sci fi you won't find it in A Wrinkle in Time. It's a book about that point at which physics and metaphysics meet and if you don't believe that point exists then you won't appreciate the book.

I don't know that I'd say it's necessarily a pro-Christian book, though. I mean, L'Engle certainly was a Christian but not a particularly traditional one. She was actually quite controversial. My Seventh Day Adventist aunt was SHOCKED that my mother would let me read her books. The local Catholic school banned her from their library and tried to get the public library to pull her books, too.

Bottom line: I think it's perfectly okay to hate a classic. I never read an Ernest Hemingway book or short story that I could stand.
