What are your thoughts on the characters? Do they catch your attention, or do you find them lacking in substance?

They definitely caught my attention but this is where I was hyper aware that I was reading the 15th book in a series. There is so much nuance and back story. It didn't really think that it took away from the story but at the same time I probably would have enjoyed it more if I knew what they went through to get to the place that they're at.

I also listened to the audio version and I had a little bit of difficulty keeping them all straight and recognizing their role in the story. That part might have been better with a paper book...or with starting with book 1.
