I love that series so much. Logically I know it's a little cliche but I don't care because it was so much fun to read.
I'm switching between Before We Were Yours and Forest of a Thousand Lanterns. I just finished the Raven Boys and I wasn't actually disappointed by it.

Ooh i just finished that i loved it!
I just started the second book of the Shadow and Bone trilogy Siege and Storm I'm only on like chapter 7 but the first book was great!

There’s something about sweetie

I've read both and I like the SoC duology better. I think that Grisha is more traditional YA fantasy because it has the trope of girl discovers powers saves the world. It's still good because of the world building and nuanced characters, but it's definitely a little typical. I liked how SoC explored a different nation with a completely different culture and atmosphere. There's more "real-world problems" like poverty, gambling, brothels, and crime.

ooh yeah i liked that about SoC too! After i finish with the grisha verse books i'm going to go back to SoC and read book 2 so maybe i'll change my mind about it. I love the darkling tho honestly he's my favourite Character ik he's evil but idc😂
So many people think he's hot but like ya know he's a few centuries old? He's evil but he had more chemistry with Alina than Mal did. What do you think of Mal? I think he's generic childhood best friend.

I try not to think about him being that old tbh 😂😭
Ngl i do like Mal don't get me wrong but yeah i agree he's such an easy choice for Alina like its just so predictable. I think the series would've been SO much better if there was a twist and Alina got with the darkling and turned evil

I read six of crows and I honestly liked the second book way more then the first !!

Yeah it is Shadow and Bone

I wanted her to just cooperate with the Darkling. Like an undercover agent or something. It would have been so much easier for her if she went along with his plans and then destroyed him when she got close enough. Mal keeps complicating things :(

I love Six Of Crows! 'Shadow and Bone' was okay , but not good enough to to make me read the 2nd book. Is the 2nd one better?

Oh yes! If Alina turned evil , she and darking could have ruled the world! Muaahahahahhaaaaaa

IKR and honestly ik this sounds mean but Alina and The Darkling are really alike like they're both super powerful and would be so great if they ruled togethor. Mal is just kind of normal like he's not even grisha and he kind of holds Alina back a bit hes literally just the loyal companion. I feel so horrible saying that omds. I do like Mal don't get me wrong i just think the darklings better lmao
Mal for sure guilt trips Alina a lot, but the Darkling is way more manipulative. I can forgive Mal because she's basically the closest person to him and he probably feels like he's losing her to the fancy cool Grishas.
Alina and the Darkling would have been ultimate power couple. But I think part of the story is that Alina won't give up her morals even for power. I mean, I probably would but ehhhhh

This is why i prefer the Darkling. Mal is such a typical guy like he's handsome, he's her childhood best friend she's loved him all her life. The Darkling is mysterious, powerful and different thats what makes him the better choice he's new plus he showed interest in her as soon as they met.

And I prefer Six of Crows over Shadow and Bone!

As far as Mal vs. The Darkling , I'm Team Nikolai. I love the Darkling, but I kinda just want him to be a really cool, indisputably bad guy. I want him to be like Ramsay Bolton, where he does horrible things and he has a reason for the way he is but ultimately he made the choice to be bad...basically just a monster that's super likeable due to charisma and badassery,
if you're caught up, I bet you're just as excited as I a, to see what happens next :)
