ABANDONED. Children's picture book. Boy walking through weird places and mom is following behind him and hiding

So I read this book along time ago. I think there is more than one book. I remember a boy walking through a bunch of weird mazes and rooms, and his mom is following him and she is hidding and you try and see if you can find her. Then at the end he go's into this hole thing and comes out under his sink and there is this suprise party for him. I don't think it has any words.

When did you read this Wendy? Do you remember anything about the drawing style--was it cartoony, realistic, photographic? What about the colours--bright, dull, black and white?

I read it maybe six or seven years ago. It was colorful. The pictures were relatively realistic.
