It's extremely disheartening , I think this is my number one pet peeve on GR. I wonder how it's being taught.
I'm so glad I learned about this. Sometimes it's the only possible response:http://tinyurl.com/kp7b2s9
Yeah. I keep this one on file for the really egregious ones. I find it appropriate far too often for comfort.

I absolutely LOVE XTC!!!!!! I always listen to Peter Pumpkinhead when I need to remember why I give a shit about politics.Nice call, Renee. :}
I never have a problem with cover versions..., even when they suck. Sometimes the ones that suck are still...."interesting". Or hilarious.And what could be wrong about that? :}
I sometimes collect covers. No telling how many versions I have of "Whiskey in the Jar" on my iPod.
Two others I like. You'll see a juxtaposition, lol.

Off to Never-Neverland. Exit...light.I love Johnny Cash's "Hurt"....and Annie Lennox's "Whiter Shade of Pale".
Faked a Metallica "Happy Birthday" voicemail for my daughter from the road. "Happy birthdeeeeeyy-aahh! To yoooouuuu-aaahh!!!"
She played it for all her friends. I was "Cool Dad", apparently.
Loved Joe Cocker's version of "Whiter Shade of Pale."
Marilyn Manson's "Sweet Dreams" cover . . . not so much.
And yeah, Johnny Cash's "Hurt" was heartbreaking. Trent Reznor said as much, too.
Speaking of remakes, anyone see the Claire Danes/Leonardo DiCaprio/John Leguizamo redux of Romeo and Juliet? I never got around to it.

Heart on The Late Show, doing "Band on the Run."
Seems a terrible waste of their voices.
Can't believe I waited up to see that . . .

Love XTC at our house too. Peter Pumkinhead is one of their best.
E.D. wrote: "Karen, Ya gotta love a band that'll make you smile, dance, and think! :}"Not only that- they are superb musicians and master song writers, a cut above so many others.
E.D. wrote: "Karen, Ya gotta love a band that'll make you smile, dance, and think! :}"Yes, that's rare. I liked it and due to my patchy music exposure didn't know them. (If only I were around my stepdaughter more, for many reasons but that too.) Anyway, always great to hear those qualities, especially in a group you've missed up 'til now..

"Was it really wise for them to get married when they just met? What are your thoughts? "
And the discussion carries on in that vein:
"Yes, it was stupid to get married based solely on the fact that they thought the other looked attractive. [ What is even more stupid, though, is that they killed themselves over it. I mean, Romeo had just broken up with a different girl not very long before all this happened. I think if he had given it a few days, he would have been okay. He was pretty shallow and stupid. The same goes for Juliet. (hide spoiler)]"*
*facepalm @ spoiler alert in Romeo and Juliet

I wonder if this is a consequence of reading snack-lit without understanding that's what it is? Whatever, it's disheartening . . . even if is kinda funny.
