(view spoiler)[There are so many characters that it feels like nothing has happened yet. All of the characters are also on their own so there are so many different POVs to read through. It's been a while since I have read the other books so I am finding it a little difficult to really care for all of the characters. It sucks that both sides hate each other so much that they can't see who is trying to help them and who is actually their enemy. There just seems to be a lot of bad blood between all of the races that they are hopefully able to overcome. Did Yvan actually die?? I was definitely not expecting that. (hide spoiler)]

Part 2
(view spoiler)[The book has been getting much better probably because it is focusing on one character so the story is able to progress. I wasn't actually expecting Yvan to be dead. Just wounded and slowly healed back to life. What are the chances that that is actually the case? Lukas seems to really care for Elloren which is sweet. Did not expect them to seal their fasting bond or at least so soon. I'm interested to see what happens as the stakes are much higher. (hide spoiler)]

Either Yvan or Elloren is going to end up dead before things end and its much more likely that Elloren will live so maybe Yvan dies? It seems to me that Elloren has reverted a bit from the strong mage she was becoming and is now helpless and afraid of her power.

I know that she and Lukas are basically made for each other and very compatible, but she kind of moved on quick from Yvan geez.

Mostly I feel bad for Lukas because he really seems to love her and I feel like if Yvan is alive, she'll drop him in a second. (hide spoiler)]

We never got any information about Rafe, Fallon and Vivian are barely in this. I agree with Shreya that the character balance was poor and a lot of Elloren's parts were boring (hide spoiler)]
