Hey, y'all!

Sorry for posting the discussion topics for June's book so late. I've been really sad and unmotivated with everything going on right now and pretty much everything in my life fell to the wayside. I'm sorry for that, but that being said, I hope everyone is doing ok right now. And please know it's fully justified if you also feel like you can't focus on anything else right now.

Everything in the world is sad and crazy right now. Wishing you the best in your personal hardships, too, NightmareMaven!

Mindy'sBookJourney (mindysbookjourney) I understand that. My reading has really slowed down with more important things to worry about.

But I am working my way through this book slowly but surely. I have finished this first section. I am really liking the concept. I am really enjoying it. Mental institution with 6 patients with similar stories of possible demonic possession. Oh that is right up my alley. This is the kind of twisted escape from reality I am needing from time to time right about now.

Jen | 27 comments I just finished Part One...so far I really enjoy the story. At first the complex names were a little confusing but I am getting used to them....I cannot imagine trying to follow this on an audio book. I need to see the names to recognize them. Love that one of the serial killers is a woman...makes it more unique/interesting. Nazis, Jack the Ripper impersonator, and serial killers...a lot of elements but very intriguing!
I also like the female assistant at the castle...Her Jewish heritage really adds to the plot as she struggles with anti-Semitism at work and home!

Krystal | 13 comments Just finished part 1. I agree with Jen about things being a little hard to follow at first, especially with the names. I'm reading this on kindle (the libraries in my area have sad horror sections) and I wish I had a physical copy because I keep wanting to look back to reference who someone was or the names of places. I had a hard time getting really into this until he actually arrived at the asylum and then I started staying up late because I wanted to keep reading. I'm a sucker for interesting fictional serial killers and the devil's six seem like they are going to be very unique. Especially one called the vegetarian that won't eat her food because she thinks it was cooked in animal fat and yet eats her psychiatrist's eyeball. Yuck. Can't wait to see what her philosophy on that is.

I finished Part 1 a few days ago, sorry just now getting to adding my thoughts. I like how slow the start is, I feel like we're going to get to know the characters a lot before things really start getting scary, which I like.
A few of y'all mentioned the names. I'm partially listening to this on audiobook and I actually think it's helping me a little, being able to hear how the names are pronounced.
Anyways, I really like the creepy atmosphere. Very gothic, I dig it!
