Hi everyone! I'm 46 and am just happy I found a group that likes reading middle grade books. They are my escape. I love fantasy and anything to do with magic and dragons is right up my Diagon Alley! I also like old school gaming and instead of a man-cave I have a nerd-cave filled with Harry Potter and anime. Hope to make some new friends and get some awesome book recommendations. Thanks!!

Hello to all!

I live in Cary, NC, USA with my wife and family and my dog Jake (not just any dog, but a talking bichon with an unfulfilled set of demands).

When I'm not writing MG fantasy novels (well, really just one so far), I'm listening to my dog (and sometimes my wife); or I can be found working on film sets, playing drums at my house, or playing drums at someone else's house.

Truth be told, I'm completely terrified of Goodreads, as I'm new to it and unfortunately was subjected to conspiracy theories first about it (e.g., "authors barely tolerated" :-)) and the truth later. As I've started to wade in, though, it looks like it's made up of a great (large) group of people who just genuinely love reading (and sometimes, writing).

I look forward to joining in on the lively discussions here. But I just wanted to be sure I didn't offend or impose and so wanted to ask if it's ok for a fledgling author like myself to post a quick description and link to a book I'm releasing? I just want to be completely in line with your rules (e.g., I've noticed that some GR groups have specific "Author's Corner" type area for promos, etc. so that general reading discussion threads don't become too spammy).
