— Claiming Elpis is not the same as claiming a character from the other lists as this claim plays a major role in this group's storyline. This claim should not be taken lightly so at the thought of applying, do take note that if you were the one that were to be selected for Elpis' claim, you will be closely watched by the moderators when it comes to roleplaying to reassure that you play the character right. Having Elpis as your claim will also take up one spot among your overall claims. You must also be willing to talk with the mods when it comes to matters regarding the group's plot since Elpis' role is very vital. You mustn't also make plot-altering actions unless it was planned/approved by the mods nor directly help any of the incarnated deities. Elpis' role is simply to watch and guide the victims of her previous actions and to take necessary actions if the need arises and when things go terribly awry.

Name: Fiend
Understanding: Well, the dictionary defines Hope as a desire or expectation of something. I feel like Elpis is an embodiment of that, but for humanity to clean up its act and get it's shit together. I'm not sure that made sense, but I can't seem to explain that part very well at the moment.
Need: Obviously we need Elpis to start the RP. I think the incarnates and mortals need Elpis to see that they can clean up their act, coexist. Like, for them to better see that the world isn't just a dark and ugly place, but has good points that are often lost.

× (view spoiler)[Had it really only been ten years? Michal had a habit of counting the days to the anniversary, and he was quite amazed that it had passed for the tenth time. The first time he watched his parents shuffle up to the house, or where the house once stood, he'd been phasing in and out. It'd taken him some time to get used to the whole "being dead" thing, and he could barely keep his form. He wanted to go over and speak to them, say they could keep coming back and he'd always be there, like old times, but as he watched their faces, he realized that they needed their peace.

The peace he had yet to find

He realized that it would eat them up inside if they thought his soul couldn't find peace, so he let them be. Better let them think that he'd moved on to a better sort of afterlife rather than the one he'd found. The one filled with anger, hate, and that tunnel at the end. It wasn't filled with light, but darkness, and it was sucking him just a bit more everyday.

The first time he'd ventured into it, he'd had a hard time coming back. He couldn't seem to find that urge to go back, but he knew, he knew that where he was wasn't meant for his soul. So he shut the door, and bolted back into his existence of perpetual wandering. Which is what left him where he is now, strumming absently on a guitar in an empty house. It took them two years before they built over the stop his house had been once. He'd met a few wandering souls in that time, and when they'd heard the news, they booked it. He managed to stop one before they left and they explained that his soul would be stuck here once the new house was built. He had the chance to leave, but he didn't take it. Mostly because that door was still there, floating in the empty space neither seen or noticed by human eyes.

See, he had a game. He'd scare off everyone that tried to buy the house, so that they'd stay away from that door. He figured it would have the same effect on people, like in the movies. Only, he'd learned that so far, being a ghost was nothing like what the movies portrayed. Sure, he could walk through walls, make things move with determination and will, and disappear from sight. Touching people was something he had yet to be able to do, but he heard that was possible. Maybe.

So, back to the present, he's sitting on the kitchen counter behind the agent. He usually looked over his shoulder to see when people were coming in, so that he had time to put something new together. His eyes landed on the name on the page, and he glared down at the date. Today. There was already a big red mark next to it, meaning that whoever it was must have bought it already. Great. (hide spoiler)]

× (view spoiler)[The biggest event of her life had been coming in, and fast. Andromeda's sisters had always boasted being there for the sighting of ships, and she had yet to see one. Her scales must have been green with envy, because they continued goading her with the marvels of the iron whales that floated atop the water. She'd pursed her lips and let them have their fun chatting about what they might do afterwards. It wasn't like she didn't feel the excitement coursing through them, it was just that she never knew if what they'd been saying before could even be true. It wasn't unusual for them to trick her. Being the youngest of the bunch was a definite downside to it all.

So when she heard them swimming towards a massive shadow, she followed. It could be something that they were leading her to on purpose, another idle trick to keep themselves busy. It hadn't taken them long to realize that she was following them, but they appeared to ignore her. So, she just picked up speed until she was right in the midst of them, and that's when she'd seen it; the ship.

Freaking out about it didn't seem as impressive to her sisters, and they pulled her towards the surface to see what they were actually interested in: the crew. Men walking along the ship like it was nothing, hauling large nets and working contraptions that Andromeda had never seen before. The first thing she noticed was the obnoxious color wrapped around them. The bright yellow made her giggle, not quite what she was expecting when she thought of burly sea men. But, now she was seeing the real thing. This was what they were all so excited for.

It took her a moment to realize that they were keeping a certain distance from the ship, which was a little confusing. Wouldn't they be able to see better if they moved closer? Which was exactly what she did. She swam closer, until she felt she was hugging the large metallic invention. A sensation of accomplishment swelled into her, until she saw the looks of terror on her sisters' faces. Why were they so scared?

It didn't take her long to find out as she was pulled up into a net. The swell of scaled flesh killed whatever shriek was in her throat. When she could see the sun again, she was on the deck. Too shocked to speak, she gaped at the men around her, looking for an exit or something that might indicate that this was just a terrible dream gone wrong.

➸ Why You Want to Claim Elpis (optional)
Once I’m a little more organized with the whole college situation and performances, I plan to become quite active in this group. I feel as though I’d be able to portray this character well, and I enjoy knowing that my roleplay is important to the plot in some way.

➸ What is your understanding/view of Elpis' character?
What I picture in my head of Elpis’ character is of a young woman who, as the embodiment of hope, has a vision of a better and brighter future, one where the gods, spirits, and humans are in peace with each other. With turning the gods and spirits into incarnates while slowly letting them learn of their past, she wishes to instill a bit of humanity in each of these previously immortal beings. Now that they are mortal, she hopes that when they realize who they are, they can think twice about what they do and what they’ve done to the fragile humans. She naturally brings a feeling of hope along with her wherever she goes.

➸ Why and how does the world and the incarnates need hope — Elpis?
The world may have fallen into a time of peace without the evil spirits and gods looking upon the world and causing great peril, but it’s still in need of a dream for making the future better. The humans must believe in what can be, and that is why they need Elpis/hope. The incarnates are really no different. They have no recollection of who they are, but they are unlike other humans that much they know. Elpis is there to guide them along when they most need that warm thought. The incarnates need hope to also look to the future with bright eyes, and when they finally learn of their past, Elpis can only pray that they don’t put the bright future to waste and keep the balance between the good and the bad stable.

X (view spoiler)[ Isaac clenched his fist, then unclenched, then clenched again. He’d been doing that for the past five minutes, breathing in and out in a steady rhythm. It was the only thing he could do to keep himself in control. It was the only thing he could focus on to keep him from bashing the face in of the person in front of him; could he even call him a person? He had wings that were tucked up on his back, but had to at least be fifteen feet all the way across when they were expanded. When the man had landed, it was hard to believe, honestly, because Isaac was not all that religious, or superstitious for that matter. How was he supposed to believe that an angel had fallen before him and was requesting something so suddenly?

Only nineteen years old. Isaac was only nineteen. How is it that out of all of the millions of men and women out there, he was chosen by this—guess he should call it as it is—angel? Isaac looked to the ground, then finally did something out of the cycle of breathing and clenching. He ran his fingers through his hair and let out a long sigh. "I don’t… I don’t understand. I’m being chosen? Chosen for what? To defend the just and good? Because if that’s the case, I don’t think I’m who you’re looking for! I’m in no way ‘just’ or ‘good’, and I’m young. I make mistakes, I’m really not all that smart!”

At this point he started to ramble, up until he was cut off by a snicker from the angel.

“What? What are you laughing at? Am I funny to you?”

“No, child. As a matter of fact, you’ve just proven to me that you’re exactly who I’m looking for.”

Isaac’s eyes opened wider at that comment, and if it was possible, he was even more confused. He couldn’t say anything anymore. He had no more words to put out. The angel smiled and it was incredibly beautiful, despite everything going on. His voice softened just a bit as he spoke his next words, and those words haunt Isaac to this very day, “There is no such thing as true good and evil, only life. Life is what you’re defending. That’s why I’ve chosen you.”

No more words were exchanged, the so called angel reached out his hand, extending one slender finger and briefly touching the boy's forehead. What came after was a blinding pain on Isaac’s back and he could barely make out a scream. Surely it was his own. A flash of light, then a world of dark soon followed, and the young man was out cold. When he was to wake, he'd find wings upon his back, and like the angel that came to choose him, he’d protect life on Earth, and one day choose another he felt worthy of the task. (hide spoiler)]
