Enjoy this page-turning science fiction alien warrior romance collection that follows five aliens that crash land on Earth!

After escaping their home, six aliens hope to find freedom on a different planet. They end up crashing onto a strange planet, a strange culture, and even stranger inhabitants.

They expected to learn some new things. However, they didn't expect to find love.

The Orba warriors are on the run from their people, now that their once peace-loving planet has been taken over by a hostile dictator, Palzu.

Join the alien warriors that include Benzen trying to gain acceptance from his mate about his true form. Help Jarick with his newfound love overcome the ultimate test. Find out if Voland feels Earth is worth saving or if his new human woman is instead. See what happens when Draygus tries to seduce a girl at the space station but ends up falling for her. Watch how Ethazol has his love abducted by Palzu. In order to save her, he knows he will need the help of his Orban friends. Will they risk their lives for him? Will he be able to save her? Will she even accept him, knowing what he is and the dangers associated with being with him? Or will Palzu eliminate the Orbas for good?

Benzen (Warriors Of Orba #1)

After escaping their home, six aliens hope to find freedom on a different planet. They end up crashing onto a strange land, a strange culture, and even stranger inhabitants.

They expected to learn some new things. However, one didn't expect to find love.

Benzen, Voland, Draygus, Victorinth, Jarick, and Ethazol are on the run from their people, now that their once peace-loving planet has been taken over by a hostile dictator, Palzu. They end up on Earth in order to start over and meet a young woman named Allison who takes them under her wing.

When Palzu's soldiers come after them, the group splits up and Benzen stays behind to protect Allison and begins to develop feelings for her. What will happen when he's forced to show her what he truly is? Will she accept him or fear him?

Jarick (Warriors Of Orba #2)

After she rescued us, I only wanted HER!

After escaping Palzu’s clutches, Jarick and Victorinth split up from the group and end up hopping on a train to land in a small town just outside of a larger city. That city contains one of the most secretive and powerful laboratories in the world, the Trojan Group.

They have been on alert due to signs of actual extraterrestrial life sensed in the vicinity. One of the lab techs, Madison, is able to track down the two aliens, leading to their capture.

At first, it seems as though the Orbas are just going to be studied, but Madison learns that some of the higher-ups in the group have been replaced with alien lookalikes who want to kill Jarick and Victorinth.

Madison is able to get them out of there without too much trouble, but the aliens are now aware that she knows they're hiding in plain sight.

They need to find a way to escape. In the process, Jarick finds that he really wants Madison. More than he thought.

Madison, too, starts to fall for Jarick. But can they really be together? She's human, and he's an Orba warrior. An alien!

Will their newfound love survive the ultimate test? Will they be able to escape the imposter aliens who have infiltrated the Trojan Group?

Voland (Warriors Of Orba #3)

With thoughts of betrayal running through his head, Voland has a plan to get Palzu's sights off of his home planet and onto Earth. After all, there doesn't seem to be anything on this planet worth saving.

After Voland and the rest of the Orbas split up to go their separate ways, he hopes to lay low and find a way back home after he's sure that Palzu will take a better liking to Earth.

However, he hadn't expected to find a human woman, Felicity, asking for his help. With each day he spends with her, he finds that she's beginning to grow on him. Sure, the Earth may not be worth saving, but she seems to be…

Draygus (Warriors Of Orba #4)

Draygus tries to seduce a girl working at the space center to gain access. It goes almost as planned except he falls for her. He obtains the access he needs but in the process he loses the love of the girl and this means more to him than his own safety. Now a life and death struggle against Palzu’s men begins as well as the much harder fight to reclaim her love he has betrayed.

Ethazol (Warriors Of Orba #5)

“You took her. I will get her back and destroy you.”

Ethazol has been hiding out after splitting up with the other Orbas that he crash landed on Earth with. He ends up spending time in the bookstores reading the books that the humans have amassed.

Ethazol meets Demi in one of these bookstores. He is unsure of his emotions at first, but ends up falling for her. All is going well with Demi until one day Draygus calls a meeting, and Ethazol needs to leave. He knew they would have to deal with Palzu sooner or later, but wished it came later.

When Ethazol returns back to his newfound love, he doesn’t realize he’s being following by one of Palzu’s men. His every move was watched, including his love, Demi. When Ethazol leaves again to get ready with the other Orbas to go against Palzu, he finds out that Demi was abducted by Palzu.

In order to save her, he knows he will need the help of his Orban friends. Will they risk their lives for him? Will he be able to save her? Will she even accept him, knowing what he is and the dangers associated with being with him? Or will Palzu eliminate the Orbas for good?

Ethazol is the fifth and last book in the Warriors of Orba series, following the Orba warriors and the human women that love them.

This box set contains five complete full-length stories. Each book in this page-turning series has no cliffhanger, no cheating, and a guaranteed happy ending!

Ingmar Weyland | 5486 comments Please add a proper annotation to this book - The Other Balkan Wars: A 1913 Carnegie Endowment Inquiry in Retrospect
The-Other-Balkan-Wars2

Timeless and timely, these pages bring to life again—after eight decades—the ravages of war in the Balkans at the other end of the twentieth century.

Timeless, for readers who discern that the tragedy of Yugoslavia is evoked all too readily by these first-hand accounts of Serbian, Bulgarian and Greek enmity and brutality long ago. These allies against the Turks in the first Balkan war of 1912 turned enemies in the second Balkan war of 1913. Since then
much has changed; much has not. The Balkan lexicon now includes "ethnic cleansing." By other names, however, it is everywhere in these pages, as compelling in an era of telegraph and steamship as in an era of computers and television.

Timely, for readers who will more fully understand from this volume, published by the Carnegie Endowment in 1914, how deep and strong are the roots of the present conflict in the Balkans. Members of the orginal
Commission of Inquiry, who came from the United States, Great Britain, France, Russia and Germany filled their report with details of regional politics, nationalist and ethnic tension, religious differences, moral codes abandoned, meddling by outsiders, local leaders gripped by ambition and local hatreds run
rampant.

These pages also bespeak a confidence misplaced and an optimism lost. Confident that they knew the auses of war, and optimistic that the Balkans could know a peace like the one the rest of Europe had experienced for a generation, these distinguished commissioners were innocent of what August
1914 would mean for their world. Sadly, the people of the Balkans will one day face another grim postwar future, knowing that they cannot easily escape a history that the world asks them to forget for the sake of peace.

Professor Kennan's introduction bridges the Balkan wars of 1913 and 1993. He does justice to both eras with a historian's eye and a special blend of realism and moral sensibility. He judges—as will many readers—that the 1914 report "may stand, in its entirety, as one of the most eloquent and compelling pleas for recognition of the folly of modern war and the essentiality of international peace, not just in the Balkans but everywhere in the civilized world."

This book The Hitman's Guide to Ruining Henry's Vacation should be titled "The Hitman's Guide to Honeymooning."

"The Hitman's Guide to Ruining Henry's Vacation" is actually a separate short story in the collection that doesn't match the description on this page.

Carina (darumarina) | 14 comments Hello everyone!
I learnt you list translators in Goodreads, so I want to claim a correction on the following books. The translator of Cells at Work! BLACK for Germany is Carina Dallmeier.

Furthermore the japanese authors are only partly added.
While the author Shigemitsu Harada is added, the illustrator Issei Hatsuyoshiya is missing in a few of these entries.

Cells at Work! BLACK 1
Cells at Work! BLACK 2
Cells at Work! BLACK 3
Cells at Work! BLACK 4
Cells at Work! BLACK 5
[volumes 6-7 aren't released yet but she's still translating them! :) ]

Furthermore, Carina Dallmeier also translated My Next Life as a Villainess for Germany.

My Next Life as a Villainess: Wie überlebe ich in einem Dating-Game Band 1
My Next Life as a Villainess 02 (also, in this one the title is incomplete. it should be identical to vol #1 "My Next Life as a Villainess: Wie überlebe ich in einem Dating-Game")
[same goes for the not yet released following volumes]

She's also translating the series Nie wieder Minirock.

Nie wieder Minirock 01

Thank you very much!

Carina (darumarina) | 14 comments Hello!

I'm currently checking out the series of Model by So-Young Lee and noticed missing information.

First of all volume #1: Model 1 is added to goodreads using its German ISBN 9783898859806, however it's not listed as being German, also having an English description.

Ingmar Weyland | 5486 comments When God Was an Atheist Sailor: Memories of a Childhood at Sea, 1902-1910 Annotation -

"The author of this utterly charming idyll was born September 5, 1902, on an ocean- going schooner becalmed in the mid-Pacific's doldrums. Commanded by her Danish-born father, the great sailing ship was the little girl's home until she was piped ashore to attend school in 1910.

"Based in San Francisco, it had ports of call ranging from the Pacific Northwest down to Peru. Between and during commercial voyages, the square-rigged craft was an enchanted world for [Burgess and hersister]. Among other pleasures, they watched flying fish play, romped on the quarterdeck, witnessed brawls among "crew members, studied natural maritime wildlife, reveled in rites of passage (as in first crossing the equator), and enjoyed a warm domestic existence in the captain's well-appointed quarters.. .
.
"The author recollects her father as a ...domineering presence who refused to accompany his family to divine services; not until years later did she realize his muscular arms and chest bore a wealth of lusty tattoos. "Cogill evokes absorbing, human-scale aspects fin-de-siecle America."

The author ends her memoirs with a quietly moving scene describing the mysterious on-board death of her father which, made all the more powerful in contrast with the idyllic tone of what has gone before, will bring cold chills. This unusual, elegantly written slice of a lost, adventurous era, illus- trated with 30 rare photographs, should become a classic.

Ingmar Weyland | 5486 comments Please, add a cover and proper annotation to this book - The Red Truck

The-Red-Truck

This is the story of Billy-Billy Jump and Teddianne Sayers. They tell it to us—strangely, very strangely—in their own appalled, stuporous, bewildered words. The time is the 1950s; the place, small town in the rural South. Transfixed by the accidental death of his little brother, Billy-Billy Jump turns inward; he dreams of a girl. She is his double, a doppelganger, himself as another self somewhere remote from where he is. Billy-Billy Jump comes to construe this presence as the offered replacement of a kind of absence in himself. Only in her, through her, with her, can he complete himself, make himself whole. The world turns away from him—parents, playmates, school. There is nothing but the girl, the sensation of the girl, her ghostly promise of some kind of spiritual fulfilment. But who is she? Where is she? In the queer syntax of Billy-Billy Jump's disordered heart, the girl answers his quest by transforming herself into Billy-Billy's idea of Christ, whereas she, Teddianne Sayers—quite apart from the influence of Billy-Billy's example—is consumed by a very different idea of Christ. She has seen Him—on the streets, at the curb—He ia a red truck. It is from these materials that Rudy Wilson conflects a nightmare of widening dementia. Darting back and forth in time and imagination to the lives that they might once have lived and to the that they yearn to live, Billy-Billy and Teddianne careen along a macabre American dreamscape in search of an end to their endless searching. The result is a novel certain to be recorded as one of the most unsettling, erotic, and unshakable narratives in recent literary history.
