Spacepig Pig | 1473 comments So this week, thanks to Gordon, we investigate English pop/rock band Squeeze.

Checking on Wiki, I was surprised to discover that they still appear to be active, and amazed to find out that they have an impressive 16 albums to their name. No shortage of tracks for us to choose from then.

Usual thing, noms in by 10 pm Sunday evening, remember to give us a link to your chosen song, and come back to vote next week.

Have a good one :-)

Yes, but not any solo works.

This is my second-favourite Squeeze song, but I've already got a wooden spoon from the Simon & Garfunkel round and I don't think anyone would vote for my favourite (King George Street).

Well, all the hits seem to have been taken, I don't really know any of the album tracks, tried a few, nothing stood out, so in desperation, I am going with Gordon's cast off.

See, doing the honourable thing is still possible in British politics, despite the piss-poor exemplars set by those at the heart of our current government.

The difference being that all of the Labour people (and Professor Ferguson) undeniably broke the rules - going to a (or more than one, allegedly) funeral with 100 others present, going to a birthday party, travelling circa 160 miles on an unnecessary trip, having a family picnic in a park (that might be a Welsh only curiosity), and getting together with a person outside one's own household.

In the case of Stephen Kinnock, Kier Starmer proved himself to be two-faced by pompously stating he would have sacked Cummings, whilst having previously given Kinnock a shadow cabinet job after he broke the rules by driving from Wales to London to wish his dad happy birthday.

Mr Cummings has a vulnerable child (autistic, and apparently frightened of strangers; a condition which won't be helped by having baying mobs of leftist haters outside his door, egged on by the likes of Owen Jones and Emily Thornberry, who should be ashamed of themselves), for whom I guess it was impossible to find suitable childcare in London if they should have needed it under current lockdown conditions. I would be just as supportive if it had been a Labour politician or adviser who'd done what he did, and was coming under fire. The welfare of the child is paramount in such a case, and is covered under the exceptional circumstances guidelines, as Dr Jenny Harries described during a press conference on 24th March (before the events occurred).

It's notable that of the two people who 'shopped' him, one later confessed to having lied by tweaking dates on an app he was using as 'evidence', and the other had made his own long distance journey (from County Durham to Berkshire and back) to bring his adult daughter back from where she was staying with her boyfriend's family, having returned from America just before lockdown kicked in.

Sure, because there was absolutely no instances of people flocking to beaches and parks on sunny days and bank holidays before the story emerged was there.

message 36: by Spacepig (new)

Spacepig Pig | 1473 comments Okie dokie then, first off, apologies for the snafu with the video for Cool For Cats, absolutely no idea what happened there. I didn't know about the cock up until I came back to vote today, and by then most people had voted, and I did see that Fishy Jim had posted a link, so I didn't see much point in fighting with the playlist by that point.
As for the missing clip costing the song votes - I doubt it, I find it hard to believe that any of us in here don't know the song, I kinda reckon the voters just preferred others.
But, if anything goes wrong with the playlist in the future, might be best if someone could send me a Message, that way I will get an email and I can deal with it asap.

So, with all that out of the way, let's get to the medals.

Taking the honours this week, Tim with Take Me, I'm Yours. A draw for second place with Tech and Sj sharing the silver with their noms Up The Junction and Tempted. And Gordon gets to keep his own bronze gong with Pulling Mussels (from the Shell).

12 voters for the 11 noms, good going, and a special thank you award to the 10 of us who managed to completely ignore the political nonsense :-)
