Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion

Team The Hobbit
The turtle shelf has only 162 books on it and most look like kids books. Some science type ones too. But this is on there if anyone has been wanting to read it:
The Woman in Cabin 10
these too:
Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold-but I'm currently #77 in line for it so that's not going to happen in time.
Norse Mythology-checked out
The Beach House (mildy interested) book 2 is also on the shelf.
Pigs in Heaven
ooh a Stephen King short story collection:
Just After Sunset
The Bean Trees
It
So some options for those who don't like YA books. I like Neil Gaiman so I checked out the Norse book. I didn't look at the plural shelf of turtles.
Wah! There's a cool sounding non-fiction book about the divers who found a WWII German Uboat on the Underwater shelf. But it's a 6 week wait at my library. Boo! I'll look at more. I've always been fascinated by deep sea diving. I'd love to read Pacific Vortex which is on there but my library doesn't have it at all.

I enjoy it too, but I'm quite picky with what I read. I tend to abandon books that I don't enjoy, although if it is for a challenge I'm more likely to finish it even if it is bad.
I’m a little picky too which is why some shelves don’t work well for me. Especially if they are loaded with YA and middle grade books. Not my thing.
HiI removed the two books that I didnt even start for Round 1.
Will start planning my books for Round 2. I will be away from Friday till Tuesday. I will add my books for Round 2 at that time.
Have a good rest of the week everyone.
I ended up not getting to the Night Circus for this round because I own the physical book vs. trying to get through some library books. I'll remove it from the spreadsheet later today.
Think this qualifies as "winter scene"?
I'm going to read it anyway because it works for I and O.
actually I think it might work for South America as well.
Finished my last U book, that will be the last one from me for this round unless there is an urgent need for a specific letter.

6 complete spell outs!!
Z Victoria - Badge to the Bone
Z Imke - Pride
P Victoria - Silver Silence
B Jenn - Undead and Unwed
Q
I
Z Vikki - Honeymoon for one
Z Mary C - Yiddish Policeman's Union
I
N Tonya - Nash
G Tonya - A Good Neighbourhood

I love hunting down tasks - gets more frustrating when there's nothing I want to read though

I think that's a winter scene. If it's more than 50% in South America it'll count so might have to wait and see.

Sophie, do you have any info on what Nicole is reading, i.e. what letters will be filled in addition to what you've listed in msg #565? She is our top reader, but she hasn't reported that many books yet.
I'm going to be messaging her today. I know that work for her is super busy for the next couple of weeks, but she's planning to be around a bit more after that.
Great, thank you! I always get a bit worried towards the end of each round that all books are reported in time and that we're not unnecessarily losing any points.
Oh, another question: do you know when you're able to have the round 2 sheet available in the Hobbit Hole SS?
It's my plan to set that up next. Slowly working my way through all the updates needed at the moment.
I'm also hoping I can find some turtle tags for discworld as I'm really in the mood for the series. I have an Ursula K Le Guin book I was planning on reading but since I wasn't able to get much reading in the last two days due to a constant headache I think I'll save it for our next U word.
Plus, everyone is doing an amazing job finding/reading books with U :)
Sorry guys. I'm here and skimming through posts. Thanks to Sophie for messaging me. I am updating the SS. Only managing a book a day because of work. Will pick up the pace tremendously after the 2nd of July. Work is crazy.

Currently 2nd in the rankings!
With Nicole's update (thank you!)

There are Us that have been used in other places and can certainly be moved around! Currently being used as B and I.
I took today off to visit a friend an hour from here. I'll finish Yiddish on the way there. Checked it out in ebook and audio. I'll see if i have something that works for multiple needed letters. Yiddish can be moved to I or B is another z book is read.
can 2 people read the same book? I've also had my eye on Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman as I've been doing an online diploma on this mythology
Please see post 577 - about 6 up from here with the big update sign! Gives a summary of where we are with this round (finishes at 8pm on Friday UK time).
Otherwise feel free to start something for ISLAND HOPPING

Tonya's N and G books are listed twice in #577?
Sorry copy and paste errors.
Spell out 8 is needing:
P Victoria
N Tonya
G Tonya
I suspect we'll get another spell out most of the way done if not completed as well, so read something that you want to read that works for any letters and we will juggle stuff.

Question: I'm currently listening to Into Vietnam, which seems to be available only as an audio e-book. The length is 7 h 1 minute, so shows as 8 pages in GR and can be used, since it's over 5 hours. What do I put as number of pages on the SS?
I found it on Amazon and it says it has 224 pages.https://www.amazon.com/Into-Vietnam-O...
Not sure if this has to get submitted to a goodreads librarian to count though.
Is there a round 2 countdown clock? The audiobook I'm currently listening to works for both this week and next but I'm not sure if we'll need another I so I can also save it for rd2.

Excellent! I searched for it on Amazon with the title and author, but it didn't come up in the search. I will sort it out (there are in fact other editions on GR, but they're scattered all over), I have librarian rights.
Okay, combined the audio with other editions (they have been published with two different titles), so it's all sorted now. Thank you again Sophie, I have no idea why my Amazon search didn't yield any results.
I’ll be starting a U book that works for I, Q, B and G. I’ll see if it’s needed this round before I finish it. If it isn’t then I’ll save it for the I’s we need next round. I also started an ebook last might that works for Z and I’ll check in before finishing. Enjoying a day at the lake today.

I've the round 1 countdown in one of the top posts on page 1, will add the ones for the other rounds there as well for easy access
(but not right now as I'm hungry)
Thanks everyone for helping each other with problems! Makes things much easier (especially if you are also librarians on here).
Hope you have a great day at the lake Mary.
Enjoy your dinner Victoria!

Please don't use this countdown as the exact time to finish as the official spreadsheet gets locked when it hits 0 so we won't be able to add any completions that come in too close to it. If all completions could be ready 2 hours before so that we have a chance to move stuff over that would be fab.

The tag list can be any number (so long as you haven't tagged it yourself as Camilla said!). We're all done for this round with them. If you find them too hard to find don't worry about them, other people are likely to pick them up.
